It is strongly recommended that you study the magazine before submitting. This will obviously greatly improve your chances of acceptance.

Non-Fiction: We are not currently open to submissions of non-fiction, although suggestions are always welcome. The best place for this is the forum.

Artwork: All original art is supplied by Black Static’s art designer David Gentry.

Short Stories: We are always open to submissions of new horror short stories of up to a maximum length of 8,000 words.

Please send your manuscript mailed flat or folded no more than once, in standard format (double spaced, good margins, printed on one side of the paper), with a covering letter and adequate return postage (ie a stamped, self-addressed envelope). Overseas submissions should be disposable and accompanied by two IRCs or an email address which we’ll use to reply. All submissions must be in hard copy only. Unsolicited submissions sent by email will be deleted. Never send simultaneous submissions, multiple submissions or reprints.

NB: if you receive a rejection from Black Static please don’t then submit that story to another of our magazines, as we will already have considered that option.
