I thought the Silver Wind very good. Its the best Nina Allen piece I've read. I think the longer form works better for that style of writing. Something of novel length would be welcome 8)

I read "The Silver Wind" the same day as the almost as long "Wilkolak" (from Crimewave #11).

I have to say I found "The Silver Wind" a little disappointing. It's as beautifully written as ever, but just a little predictable. Once mutations were mentioned I knew we were going to meet one, and once the premise of the story was explained halfway through, I guessed what would happen in the rest of the story.

In June's Locus (#605),Rich Horton reviews Interzone 233 and makes Nina Allan's The Silver Wind one of his Recommended Stories. He also says that Ray Cluley's Tethered to the Cold and Dying is "a pretty effective story".

I'm new to these forums, but not new to Interzone.

I'm an Australian science fiction writer who also does reviews and interviews for Albedo One Magazine in Ireland. I recently reviewed Interzone 233 for Albedo One, which is posted here.

I hope you enjoy, because I certainly enjoyed the issue.

A pedant writes; In the title and link to the review the issue number reads 223 and should be 233.

I was looking for reviews of the new Black Static (23) and no joy yet, but I did stumble across this from Colin Harvey which doesn't seem to have been posted here.

I would noramlly keep it to myself as he says nice things about my own story, but I figured that wouldn't be fair to the others reviewed, or the reviewer (and a sticky out tongue emoticon to anyone who thinks otherwise!).

Mr Harvey would like to see more novellas from the sounds of it, which I don't think is a bad idea at all if they're anything like Nina Allen's.

Just uploaded IZ 233 to Fictionwise but it won't be processed until 15/11 so it may 'go live' on 21/11. I'll try to get it on Smashwords before then.

My story, 'Tethered to the Cold and Dying', gets a superb treatment from the folks at The Dunesteef Audio Show, here: ... ay-cluley/

I can't believe how good it sounds. Even if you hated the story, have a listen - they've done a fab job with it.
