Hi Andrew - I'm another Andrew. Welcome to the TTA boards. Had a quick read of your blog which was interesting. I'd pick Dr Bloodmoney over Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? but both are good.

Hi Andrew. As you are in Derby did you see us at Edgelit in 2013? We had a TTA stand there. Good to hear you read the magazines.

Hi Andrew, and welcome to the TTA forum. Hope you'll have a good time here.

And for what it's worth, I agree with Andrew H in preferring "Dr Bloodmoney" to "Do Androids Dream of Electronic Sheep".

Sadly I didn't go. I heard about it, but I'd by that point I'd already made plans to stay at my mother's. I was pretty disappointed that I didn't get to go.

It's strange that two people have suggested Dr Bloodmoney over Do Androids considering Do Androids is much more critically acclaimed and well known. Apparently finding a copy of it was a stroke of good luck for me.

There may be another Edgelit this year Andrew. I've not heard yet. July is probably outside academic times though.
There's Eastercon in Glasgow, Loncon 3 - the World SF con in London this year. Might be 9/10 years before there is another here. Dublin is a future suggestion I believe, maybe 2018.
Fantasycon is closer to home in York.
I'm hoping to take a TTA table at all 3.

I was pretty disappointed that I didn't get to go. It's always great talking to people with insider knowledge about what genre fiction is like these days.

Can't make Glasgow, but London in August is a must! :D

Loncon hotels are arm and a leg job in price but there is one 0.5 mile away that is reasonable. Don't leave it too long unless you live round there.

I'll either grab a B&B out in the sticks or stay with a friend, then train it in. :D

Hello and greetings to all. I’m technically a newbie, having not been around here for many, many years. I write dark fantasy/horror fiction (and do the odd interview: witches, musicians and other odd but interesting folk) – one of my earliest published stories was in The Third Alternative. I lost touch with my writer friends when I left London over a decade ago and feel somewhat isolated in the far, far West of Britain. Not a problem most of the time but I definitely need to communicate with other writers in the same kind of genres as myself. This feels more urgent since the sad passing of Joel Lane. Time is short, isn't it?
