The Stories So Far
I made a New Year Resolution to start blogging here again on a semi-regular basis, though invariably my New Year Resolutions fail within a month or so at the best.
I thought I'd kick off with one of my occasional overviews of what and who Black Static has published.
With the release of double issue #80/81 Black Static has presented readers with a grand total of 457 stories (excluding the 20 flash fictions that featured in #17/18 as part of the Campaign for Real Fear).
Of those 457 stories 144½ (32%) have had a female by-line (for the statistical purists, that's 143 stories written by women, and three that were co-written with men).
213 writers have had fiction appear in the magazine and 80 (38%) of them have been women.
The ten most frequent contributors to the magazine are:-
-
Ray Cluley - 16 stories
-
Ralph Robert Moore – 13
-
Carole Johnstone – 12½
-
Steve Rasnic Tem – 11
-
Stephen Hargadon – 10
-
Tim Casson - 9
-
Steven J. Dines – 9
-
Tim Lees – 9
-
Simon Avery - 8
-
James Cooper - 8
-
Daniel Kaysen - 8
I'd like to further break it down by nationality, story length etc., but life's too short.
