As you will see when you receive your beautiful, fresh-smelling copies of Interzone 214 and turn immediately to the front page of the subscription pull-out bit in the middle - it's time for the 2007 Readers' Poll.

Every story and piece of artwork published in Interzone in 2007 (issues 208 - 213) is eligible for your vote - a full list is set out below.

You can vote positively for as many stories or pieces of art as you like.

And, as is the Interzone tradition, you can vote negatively, for the stories or artwork you didn't like.

The final poll ratings will be decided based on an aggregate score of positive votes minus negative votes.

You can express your preferences by:
    1. Leaving a message in this thread,
    2. Emailing interzonepoll@ntlworld.com
or 3. Writing an old-fashioned letter to Martin McGrath, 48 Spooners Drive, Park Street, St Albans, Herts, AL2 2HL

Comments about the magazine, the stories and the poll are also welcome.

The closing date for the receipt of votes is March 31, 2008. Results will be published in Interzone 216.

Don't delay. Get voting!

Thanks GlenH

The votes are flooding in (though not through the forum so much) - don't be shy.

I would, but I've only read half the year's output. Would hate to slew your statistics. Confused

I didn't vote last year for similar reasons (only read 1/4 of the issues). I will vote this year, but want to have a good flick through the issues to refresh my memory first, and avoid 'recent-issues bias'.

Slew my statistics all you want!

It's not a precise statistical evaluation - it's a straw poll to see what people do and don't like. Opinions from one issue are as valid as those from the whole year.

Just vote

Well, I vote for:

I don't have any negative votes. Not because I liked everything, but because I feel that even those stories that I didn't like still contributed to the overall feel of each magazine I've read since subscribing in 2007, and that I have enjoyed.

And no, Aliette didn't bribe me, but I won't refuse a drink should our paths ever cross Wink

My positive votes are:

* "Molly and the Red Hat" by Benjamin Rosenbaum (issue 213).
* "Tearing Down Tuesday" by Steven Francis Murphy (issue 210).
* "A Handful of Pearls" by Beth Bernobich (issue 212).
* "Winter" by Jamie Barras (issue 209).

Update

Since I can vote for more than four stories, I decided to add in two more positive votes:

* "Softly Shining in the Forbidden Dark" by Jason Stoddard (issue 208)
* "Metal Dragon Year" by Chris Roberson (issue 213)

I posted more info on all this at http://www.jasonsanford.com/jason/2008/02/interzone-reade.html

Me either, don't think that matters though given it says vote for as many as you want?
