Anyone watching this? I vaguely remember the TV show in the late seventies and it did make an impression on me at the time (although I wouldn't have been much older than ten). This 'remake' seems pretty formulaic and riddled with unlikely coincidence, but still pretty watchable all the same.

The original Terry Nation series was one of the TV highlights of my teenage years; I loved it, it made a huge and lasting impression on me. I also remember my delight at finding Nation’s novel (s?) of the series in Worle Public Library - enjoyed them even more than I did the programme.

Funnily enough, over the last few months I’ve watched the first series on DVD. Still wonderful. I was looking forward to seeing the second and third series ... but the DVDs have been deleted, presumably to allow some big marketing relaunch to tie-in with the rescraping. Sorry - remaking. (If anyone wants to sell me 2nd -hand copies of series 2 or 3, please let me know.)

I’d sooner die than watch the rescrape, though - you’re on your own there, Andrew!

Yep, seasons 1-3, complete Survivors, just released on DVD... 12 discs for £80 or less.

I missed the original series (a bit too young, just!) - but I've heard the 2nd and 3rd series aren't as good as the first, since Terry Nation left due to 'artistic differences' with producer Terence Dudley.

I missed the first part of the remake. The second struck me as a bit cheesy and predictable, but quite watchable nonetheless.
