'all mouth' is probably my favourite 'black static' story of the year and has convinced me that i NEED to buy the collection by mr meloy. it really struck a chord with me having lived in some very strange shared houses.

i also liked 'special needs' and 'viva las vegas' in this issue.

keep up the good work.

A very strong issue I thought, with only 'The Better Part of You' failing to connect with me on any level. All the rest had good things to offer, but my particular favourites were 'Special Needs' and 'All Mouth', both of which were fantastic.

By the by, having unexpectedly found myself in the situation of having one of my own stories accepted for future publication (thanks Andy!) I'm not sure if it's considered 'bad form' to continue to comment on other peoples' work, but for now here's another little blog review for #6 ...

Well personally I'm all for it - thanks for the comments. What's the story we're to look out for from you?

Hello again Ellen. It's a good issue apparently, everybody says so. ;)

Ray, I'll answer your question on behalf of Lawrence (davebowman) if I may: the story is called 'The Likeness'. I can't say right now which issue it will be in, but, you know, watch this space.

Hi, my copy of #6 has failed to materialise here in the wilds of Cumbria :(
Started my sub with #5 so maybe I'm not on the proper mailing list yet?

I had to replace a BS 5 for someone while I was at Fantasycon last weekend. He too had received 6 but not 5.

Postal glitch perhaps. I'm sure Andy will resend

Definitely a postal glitch assuming the mailing label is up to date. People please email me with details if an issue doesn't turn up and you think it should.

Meanwhile, Black Static 6 gets 8/10 on the Dreamwatch website.

Sam Tomaino on SF Revu loves Black Static 6 (bar one story) and reads five books because of it.

Just read Black Static #6:

The Better Part of You - The more I read of Simon Avery the more I admire his writing. Fantastic story, in all senses of the word;

Back on the Road - thought this was quite standard fare; nicely done but a bit familiar;

Special Needs - guessed the "pay-off" but not it's temporary nature which immediately raised the story a level for me. Good stuff;

En Saga - quietly brilliant - I want to re-read it immediately;

All Mouth - must admit some of Paul's stories don't work for me, but this hit the nail on the head. Quirky, sinister, believeable, and absolutely terrifying!

Viva Las Vegas - felt the same as Back on the Road in terms of "been there done that". Not bad, but not great.

All the columns were good as usual, and Chris Fowler's was particularly interesting.

Great artwork too.

Dave Simms' positive summary (nothing is actually reviewed) of Black Statics 5 and 6 on Horrorworld.

Prompted by the safe arrival of issue #7 via Regal Snail to say still no sign of BS#6... :(

Pete Bullock uploaded Black Static #6 to the unlamented Fictionwise E book site in 2008. It was TTA’s only e book with a story by Paul Meloy when Fictionwise bit the dust three years ago. The next opportunity to e publish a Paul Meloy story was last year with issue 40 but IT problems scuppered that ebook so still no Meloy.
Now #6 has returned, reanimated on Amazon Kindle at a mere $4. Here is your chance to read a Paul Meloy story, see Ray Cluley’s first published story, try French horror from Melanie Fazi and still have stories by Peter Tennant, yes TTA's very own, Simon Avery and Nina Allan.
