Advance notice in case you were thinking of buying any of these and are feeling lucky. With Black Static 5 we'll have competitions to win:
Cloverfield The Graveyard Five Across The Eyes Buried Alive Untraceable Black Water The Cellar Door
Questions to follow.
Actually, some of these you might not want to win. But fwiw I'd like to recommend Black Water and Five Across The Eyes. Haven't seen Cloverfield myself. Motion sickness.
(Already confirmed for the next competition: Exte and Awake.)

One of the disadvantages of living in the States is that I can't participate in these contests. All that Region 1 vs. Region 2 stuff.
I like playing, though, even if I don't submit for a chance to rob someone else of copies.

I'm not sure I should ask the questions again because a couple of people managed to get one wrong last time! If some of the following look a bit difficult at first glance it's because finding questions for some of these films was, well, difficult. There might be some kind of internet movie database that'd help...
Answer any or all of the following questions to be in with a chance of winning the Region 2 DVDs.
We have 2 copies of CLOVERFIELD to give away.
Director Matt Reeves is currently working on which new film due for release in 2010?
We have 5 copies of THE GRAVEYARD to give away.
Writer Michael Hurst wrote which 2006 horror film as 'Ellis Walker'?
We have 5 copies of FIVE ACROSS THE EYES to give away.
The film was shot in and around Morristown, TN. Which famous 1981 horror film was also shot here?
We have 5 copies of BURIED ALIVE to give away.
Which Buried Alive actress also appeared in The Graveyard?
We have 3 copies of UNTRACEABLE to give away.
What’s the name of the website used by the killer?
We have 3 copies of BLACK WATER to give away.
Who are the writer/directors of this film?
We have 5 copies of CELLAR DOOR to give away.
How many awards did this receive at Shriekfest (2007)?
Send your answer(s) by post or by email to blackstatic[at]ttapress.demon.co.uk before the closing date of 30th June, when the winners will be drawn entirely at random. Please include your postal address with your entry.
Oh, and the competition is open to current Black Static subscribers only, which I think is only fair.

Got my Cloverfield DVD thanks, Andy. Much appreciated.
The two DVDs I've won this year have paid for the subscription.
When I think about it that way, I can't believe how good Black Static is!

Thanks Andy.
Safely received my 2 DVDs also. But due to their titles my wife is concerned that she is married to a serial killer.

You're welcome Steve, Jim, Robert. You've won some really great films.
We still haven't received Untraceable and Black Water btw. The PR company handling these can only order a certain amount of time after release date apparently. I'm sure they'll be here soon.

You might want to get the beers in as well, aj.
OTOH, the winners of FATE are very lucky I reckon. I read another poor review of this yesterday, but there are still enough critics out there who agree with me. I was on this forum complaining about The Blackwater Valley Exorcism (did I remember that right?) not so long ago, saying that lack of budget was no excuse for making the worst film ever. FATE had an even smaller budget, and did something ingenious to compensate, that also happens to help make the tension in the film almost unbearable. Grit your teeth for the first 20 minutes, is all.
Quick heads up while I'm here, in case you were thinking of buying them: competitions soon for Exte (Hair Extensions), Awake, Bloodbath at the House of Death, [REC], The Tattooist, Unearthed, Ghost Game, Eden Log, Zombies, The Sick House. Some of these aren't great, but I'm happy to recommend Exte and Ghost Game to collectors of Asian Horror (even though both are a very long way from the best of Asian Horror), The Tattooist, Eden Log, and especially [REC].
All of the above (and more) will be reviewed by Tony in issue 6's Blood Spectrum, and he'll be interviewing the directors of [REC].
