INTERACTION

I was trying to figure out my 2008 Hugo Nomination Ballotand thought I'd ask you personally which stories and artists you think are the most likely to win a Hugo Award if nominated. I'm only interested in work that appeared in Interzone for the purposes of this thread. The work must have first appeared in 2007 to be eligible.

The categories are: Best Novella, Best Novelette, Best Novelette, and Best Professional Artist.

I was thinking about nominating Toke by Tim Akers and The Men in the Attic by John Phillip Olsen. What are your thoughts? Are there stories I may be overlooking that are worthy of a mention? What about artists?

I've already decided on my Best Editor nomination.

Bottom line, I want to nominate stories and artwork that have the best chance of winning, when voting starts.

Toke was fairly good and I might add, did anyone else notice that more than one story mentioned using the Weed for medicinal purposes?

Well, I'm happy that people like the stories. That's honestly my only concern, and I'm happy they could appear in a great magazine.

But hey. I'll be in Denver anyway.

Now we wait to see who got nominated.

Fabrice: I think Murphy is in fact eligible. Another one to consider might be Grace Dugan with her Short Story "Knowledge". Hint hint: on the Short Story category bit.

I don't think I am, Fabrice. Interzone isn't what SWFA considers to be a pro market, which is one of the standards. But de Bodard and Akers have both appeared in qualifying markets I think. Nominate them. Or Rachel Swirsky. I was really impressed with Heartstrung.

Anyway, there are plenty of other folks to nominate. My reward is simply selling and finding such a happy audience. Everything else is secondary.
