Out now. Trailer here:-

Went and saw it the other day, and have mixed feelings. Enjoyed it on its own terms, albeit I thought it was a bit slow to get started. Loved the humour, loved Downey as Stark, and some spectacular battle scenes. But as a long time Marvel fan with a couple of hundred issues of the comic in a box somewhere I felt a tad pissed at one of the plot developments, though I can't elaborate without spoilers.

Think I caught Stan Lee as a beauty pageant judge holding up a score of '10'.

Likewise. I'd never been a fan of the comic, but seeing the first film (after watching the cartoons) had piqued my interest. I felt the film started well enough, e.g. looking at the issues of the man in the suit - but ultimately proved to be showy without substance. I also found the Mandarin to be a disappointment.

Still, there are worse ways to pass an hour and a half, so I'll give it 5 out of 10.

I'll give IM3 a 7/10 score. It has a lot of faults, including a disappointingly fairytale happy-ending, but adds layers to Stark as 'troubled hero', while the mix of Nitro-derivative/ faux-Mandarin villainy offers plenty of spectacular mayhem and character-driven plot twists.

My initial reaction is that IM3 is flawed but enjoyable. I'm hoping it's one of those films that improves on a second viewing.
