Co-written by the chap doing the Star Wars script so I'm very interested to see this.

On FB, Lucius Shepard made scathing and funny comments about this movie... so, he gets my Tom-Cruise-bashing award of the month.

Saw Oblivion today. It's Tom Cruise playing Tom Cruise and is so chock full of standard Sci-fi tropes that every twist and turn of the plot was laughingly obvious, but I still enjoyed it. Morgan Freeman was a bit underused although he had the best lines in the movie.

Agreed. It breaks the rule of show don't tell - from overlong intro narration to final explanation, but that's not its worst crime.
In SF cinema, Tom Cruise is an industrial accident that keeps repeating itself.

That was the clunkiest opening narration I've ever heard. There were some nice visuals and tech in the film but it felt like a script done by commitee.
