While I was messing about with the admin of this forum I did manage to activate a long dormant thing that allows people to upload their own avatars. Previously it had to be a link, or in the library, or something. There is a size limit, but otherwise please feel free.

The file size limit of 6kb makes it impossible to create a visible avatar. Can this be increased please?

I'd have thought 6 KB was plenty for a thumbnail image.
Try compressing a photo and saving it as a low-res JPEG file.
