Hi Guys/Gals,
I looked around the board but couldn't see anywhere where people can introduce themselves (if I've missed it, then please move this post there). I know quite a few names of the people who post here, but don't know what they do specifically, so I thought it might be ideal to have a topic where people can introduce themselves. Especially people who might be new to the 'scene'.
Anyways, i've been reading Interzone since the start of 2000. Prior to that I'd read some Interzone stories in an anthology (can't remember which one). I prefer to read SF, but also watch way too much. I run a site based around scifi/SF. Favourite author at the moment: PKD.
Interzone is my fave read on this kind of thing. The new and improved modern ones, plus the old back issues (still going through them).
I've dabbled in writing scifi/weird, but don't have the time or patience to do it to completion (and I admire people who can go to the end to get something published). I have ideas, but can't get the narrative to flow.
Looking forward to chattin' with you people.

Hi Rich; I've seen your site, it's pretty good - though the RSS feeds seem a little erratic. I'm too lazy to click through to the page every day!
I'm the guy who runs VelcroCityTouristBoard, BTW, in addition to being a reviewer for Interzone and numerous other mags and sites.

Hi Rich--
Welcome to the new boards.
I like the idea or (re-)introducing ourselves.
I am Jetse de Vries, a technical specialist for propulsion systems at day, part of the IZ editorial team at night.
I also write short SF stories (although not quite as much as I did before I joined IZ), an overview can be found here.
(Unsubtle plug: my story "Transcendence Express" will be in HUB #2, which, according to some fresh info, arrived from the printers yesterday, and will be mailed out over the weekend... )
Should we re-instate the PLUGS topic, BTW?

Definitely a good idea to have an introductions thread, especially if you decide to create an account using a silly alias such as "friendlygun".
So, on the plane of non-digital reality, I'm Shaun Green. By day I'm a mild-mannered team leader at an elearning software test house, but by night I fight illiteracy with book reviews, fiction and blogging.
I review, very occasionally, for Yet Another Book Review, a Canadian website, and used to review for SF Crowsnest. I've written a few reviews for The Fix but that project is currently stalled (nudge nudge, Andy). I'm trying to get back into reviewing more regularly after mostly abandoning it for various personal reasons. I'm in the process of setting up a blog for such things, which I will plug to town and back again once it's ready.
I also write fiction, and have a dazzling diverse portfolio of publication credits. Specifically, I have a drabble published in an Australian flashfic webzine. In my defence I've been suffering RSI for over a year now, which does hamper the ability and will to type for long periods of time. But when I do overcome this hindrance, plus my own innate laziness and short attention span, I write SF and fantasy - sorry, specfic and weird - and so on.
I have a tendency to ramble. You may have noticed.

Hi folks,
I've got here as well - more by accident than anything... was idling around the old TTA forum.
I'm Stephen Palmer, SF and fantasy author of this parish. 5 novels to date (see website) with a sixth one coming from PS Publishing some time at the end of the year.
I hope to be at the alt.fiction Derby event this year, so see ya there!
STEVE...

Hi Guys,
Well, I'm Ian Redman, I edit Jupiter the wonderful, amazing, I'd even go as far as saying fantastic Science Fiction short story magazine. Sadly that doesn't pay the bills, so I'm also a design engineer (mainly electronics) for a small company in Somerset.
Enjoy your weekend,
Ian Redman

Why not? I'm Jim Steel. I review for Interzone, The Zone, Whispers Of Wickedness, VideoVista, Soundchecks and (possibly) The Fix. I've got short stories in the current issues of Jupiter and Whispers Of Wickedness, and other dollops of fiction are scattered around here and there, with more due to appear sometime. I also write novels. I'm proud to be a member of the Glasgow Science Fiction Writers Circle. Um... that's it. I need a life.

Hi all,
I'm a geographic information systems specialist at the Montana State Library, and I received my first issue of Interzone (#208) recently after being intrigued by the the table of contents that was posted on the Nightshade Books forum a couple of months ago.
I've subscribed to the Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction since 1992, but have been a science fiction fan for as long as I can remember. I think the first sci-fi I ever watched was probably "Fireball XL5", which you should look up if you've never heard of it. I remember in 1966 seeing the announcement in TV Guide of a new sci-fi TV show, "Star Trek" (I was 8 years old), and the looks of amazement my Dad and I exchanged the first time we saw Mr. Spock. The earliest science fiction I remember reading was the "Tom Corbett, Space Cadet" series.
Today I don't have a lot of time to read, and just usually read F&SF and Gardner Dozios' annual best of the year collection. I probably only read one or two SF novels a year.

Terry Martin, publishing editor and art director of Murky Depths; determined, stupidly no doubt, to turn the tide of electronic printing or at least roll up my trousers and paddle in the lapping waves. Print is what I'm aiming to sell not electronic copies (and I mean copies -- the only original you're going to get is from my printers).
Murky Depths is a hybrid comic/straight prose magazine so the byline Graphically Dark Speculative Fiction is intended to have more than one meaning.
This isn't my first attempt at small press (or what I've tended to
call fanzines in the past) so I know it costs and theirs no financial reward. But there is a great deal of satisfaction in finding and publishing good stories and illustrations.
If you want a copy of the Promo Issue #0 let me know, I might do you a deal!
By day I'm a Project Manager in the Facilities Management sector in London.

I like the idea of an introductions thread, so here's my contribution.
I'm Alan Frackelton. I've been a fan of fantastic/speculative fiction (primarily horror) for most of my life, though it's only in the last couple of years that I've developed a real taste for SF - which, for someone who reads as much as I do, and who buys far more books and magazines than he can possibly read, is not necessarily a good thing. I'm a writer, too, and amazingly enough a number of editors have seen fit to publish some of my stories (including some guy named Andy Cox? You may have heard of him?). People tell me I should get out more, and I would, only I can't find the door for all the books.....

WTH. I'm Edward Morris. I've eaten, slept and breathed s/f/h since the age of five. I live in Portland, Oregon and work for idiots doing menial jobs that are hazardous to my health when not writing s/f/h.
I owe Interzone an incalculable debt. My story "Imagine" in #200 was a cult favorite, just like most of what I write. Since then, I've sold 22 more shorts, one book review and three novels, plus more of all on the way. "Imagine" wasn't my first sale, or my first international one (Paul S. Jenkins, former editor of This Way Up, bought a horror piece I wrote called "Great Expectations" back in '01, first for both types of sale for me) but it was "Imagine" that got me off my arse and trying to do this full-time.
Thanks to these fine people, I got to go to WorldCon last year, meet Harry Turtledove, Harlan Ellison, Alastair Reynolds, Ellen Datlow, Greg Bear, Paul Cornell, Jim Minz, Lou Anders, Sheila Williams and a whole host of other such luminaries. There can be no going back for me now. I've signed the blood oath to work this racket for the rest of my life and beyond. May God forgive Interzone for what they have unleashed upon this Earth.

Well, as most of you know, I am who I say I am, and as well as being The Brain behind Elastic Press ( http://www.elasticpress.com), the definitive publisher of short fiction in book format, I also have had three short story collections of my own work published and one novel. My personal website is here: http://www.andrew-hook.com

My name is Mark West and I’ve been a fan of horror/weird fiction since my early teens. I discovered the small press through “The Zone” (the old TTA Press listings/review magazine) and soon after began to publish some of my stories in magazines such as Sackcloth & Ashes, Sci-Fright and Enigmatic Tales. Pendragon Press published my novel “In The Rain With The Dead” in 2005 and my collection “Strange Tales” came out through Rainfall Books in 2003.
By day, I work as Finance Manager for a company that designs and manufactures conveyor systems.
