Tonight, I was torn between (1) being genuinely disturbed by the acute drama that has just taken place between human beings in distress and anger and clumsy passions of right and wrong - real beyond any Reality Show I've ever seen - and (2) an interest in the whole mock-theatrical phenomenon that transpired as a slow-motion train wreck. I shall sleep on it, but - as I hinted earlier today - I do not have much time for Denise and - whatever the faults of the other 'contenders' - I do blame her for most of what went on.

Girls Just Want To Have Fun...
Frankie was made Queen Bee for the day and had to face a spelling challenge. They might as well have asked him to hop up to the moon as spell chrysanthemum. Whenever he got a word wrong, the other HMs, dressed as drones, were given a shock (yes, folks, the shock suits were back).
The relationship between Denise and Frankie grows stronger - perhaps they deserve one another. Whatever, she confided in him that she was upset because Nicola implied she had dodged the shock task in some way. Can't say I noticed any dodging, nor did I hear Nicola calling her a liar. She is also unhappy at being excluded from the coven now that Nicola has hooked up with the Twins. Denise's discontent is always a sign of trouble ahead - grievance struggles through the stewed mush she calls a brain and breaks free once she's had a little drinkie or two.
Anyway, booze was awarded for passing the task and the ladies had a Girls' Night In. Oh, how they belted out 'Girls Just Want To Have Fun' while the Twins pouted and posed for the camera and Denise flashed her boobs a couple of times...then groped a Twin's breast and pulled down Karissa's trousers - rather more down than was shown on TV :
And from this one incident, all Hell broke loose.
Karissa says she is a reserved person and does not flash her body in the house - she even takes a shower in her bathing suit. This is true - the Twins do not reveal much. Denise apologised but Karissa wasn't having any. She went to BB and complained about Frankie's constant harrassment of her and about the descent of her trousers. 'You guys are f****d,' she said, 'I'm going to sue.' AND she wants to leave. Right now.
Meanwhile, back in the lounge, Kristina took on the whole house on her sister's behalf. The men were shouted down and told to shut up, Denise was hauled over the coals, Frankie was flattened by angry glares and harsh words.
Denise did what denise does - diverted attention from her own behaviour by attacking someone else's - Nicola this time. The liar accusation was aired, and the matter of the shredded letters. Denise wept piteously. Nicola swung in on the Twins side with a spirited defence of body sovereignty even if they have all posed for mags. That spiteful judgementalism of hers came to the fore in reminding Denise that she had never flashed her boobs in the house. Kristina also pinted out the wrongness of a woman her age getting in the tub with a 19 year old boy. Ouch!
Denise, as usual, can never let things lie. She flitted about attacking and attacking, trying to manipulate the perceptions of the other Hms, weeping and wailing and begging for pity - the woman is a major pain in the neck and a consummate manipulator.
Back in the DR, Karissa was still demanding to be let out.
In the lounge, Nicola was howling and wanting to go out too - in fact, she ran upstairs and lay on the floor, screeching like a fishwife in the most colourful language that she wanted to go home. Big Gareth came and brought her back into the fold. In the end, she swore never to talk to certain Hms again - so there.
Denise also was crying and wanting out, away from these people. In her eyes, they were all having a brilliant time until everyone else started misbehaving. 'I'm not a nasty person,' she wept, 'I'm a fun person.'
The looks on the faces of the other HMs were priceless.
Best line of the night went to Denise when she attacked Nicola about the 'liar' comment. 'When we were sitting on the flowers,...'she said.
That did it - I haven't had so much amusement out of HMs in years. What a nasty, messy, squelchy row it was. It reminded me of a classroom riot of second formers many years ago - teenage girls are messy creatures, emoting like crazy, crying, commiserating, justifying, accusing - and when all else fails, having hysterics. But at least kids have the excuse of being kids
What Denise's excuse is I cannot imagine - she was intolerable, constantly stirring things up and hurling her spite at anything that moved, like telling the Twins that Nicola has commented on them living like pigs. It's an old tactic - defend by attacking, dividing, and ruling. But good for the Twins - they said they didn't care and refused to be drawn on that one - othewise we'd have had World War 3 in there.
By the time she finished, no one was even talking about Karissa's modesty any more. Denise had them all on the run, writhing with guilt about what they had done to her - with the exception of the Twins, who reallydon't care.
it could be we're facing a mass exodus from the house unless BB sorts this out.
Against the advice of wiser Michael, Frankie kept cutting in on Denise's side and had a real go at Nicola. I thought Kristina was going to eat him alive. On the whole, though, the men slunk about keeping out of it, but Gareth was forced to take a hand with Nicola on the stairs and then with Denise who sauntered into the bedroom with 'a brilliant night' comment and tried to involve everyone else in there in the row. 'Go to bed, Denise,' he boomed and kept booming until she finally shut up and got into bed.
Final words went to Frankie who appeared to have been told off by BB about his behaviour towards the Twins. A string of expletives demanding to know why she hadn't said she was bothered by the things he said exploded from his foul mouth.
Now, I distinctly recall the Twins telling him off more than once...
Like Denise, he cannot bear to be put in the wrong, no matter how wrong he is.
This was CLASSIC BB.

Having slept on it, I feel the same as I did last night. We seem to be in agreement, Marion. Girls gotta have 'fun' - wasn't that the song they were dancing to? Classic BB, indeed. But left me with a nasty taste, sadness and foreboding. An eye to the Youtube culture turned inflamed. Equivalent to the Victor fight ... but even more insidious. Jade in the shade.

The poetry task - giving Michael the responsibility to mend the house - was a masterstroke. Undercurrents still prevail, but an easier day. And I imagine the nature of Denise and Nicola making up 'in the playground' continues earlier Marion's analogy of grown-up schoolkids.
I didn't know Michael is a published poet. Perhaps we can persuade him to go on Marion's TTA Poetry thread!
The Twins are a hard act to call. At one moment extremely strong and business-like - the next minute something shows through of the vulnerable, increasingly. Interesting that the others can now tell them apart, even with their eyes shut. I don't think I can, but fascinating to hear about their differences.

Apologies for late report - a minor domestic disaster left me BB - less for a while.
Oh, I was going MAD wondering what was going on! However, I have now viewed.
If You Get An Erection For Four Hours, Consult Your Doctor...
Well, it's as good a place to start as any. After a soggy evening with much weeping and sniffling and storming out of rooms, Michael's Viagra pantomime was funny to watch. He alone understands that there is no point in trying to reason with Denise - like a child, she must be amused to restore her equanimity. Well done, Michael.
The evening did not begin so auspiciously, however, as there wasn't even a shadow of a smile to be seen for miles around.
Denise got a ticking off for her imappropriate behaviour the night before which sent her into a paroxysm of weeping which I really believe was entirely fake or at least exaggerated. She only did the sort of thing she always does with her friends, she bleated, eyes rolled Heavenward scanning the sky for a miracle. Adept as always at keeping attention on herself, she became the focus of everyone's interest.
Frankie nearly wept when she told him how she had considered Nicola a friend. Romeo was especially brave, advising her to avoid conflict and argument (he should have told her to avoid the booze).
Romeo tried to mediate with the Twins in his gentle way- he told them he sees no bad people in the house, that Denise isn't a bad person. But the twins are cut and dried girls - Karissa will not speak to Denise ever again. Kristina wants an apology from her. Alsofrom Frankie for his sleazy behaviour.
The Twins are convinced that they will the show, and also that the world will be at their feet when they emerge. Dense is not to be forgiven - if they go on her Talk Show, it will only be if she doesn't host it. Right...
Meanwhile, there was a Grand Reconciliation between Denise and Nicola, tearful and cautious, which ended in Nicola fleeing the room. Reconciliation #2 was more successful, full, as it was, of declarations of mutual admiration and affection, and the shedding of crystal tears. ( I just knew it was going to be a soggy evening).Denise was quite impressive here until she said 'Yesterday, when we were bees...'; Nicole was not impressive at any point.
Michael and the boys were strangely quiet mostly. Although Michael did speak grimly of not being a HM but a hostage. And of the day Time stood still and the world stopped - he can be very amusing in his dry way.
he advised the twins not to buddy up with Denise again as this would afford her the opportunity for more declarations, self justifications etc etc
And then, he added darkly, when BB brings on the booze, she'll crack again.
He's so right.
In the DR, he gave vent to his frustrations. There are no winners in tthe house, he declared. He also demanded to know why BB continues to pile humiliation on the HMs (via tasks) when to all intents and purposes, the show is over. He doesn't want any more tasks as no one wants to come together any more.
Then, as you described it, Des, the master stroke. An evening of HMs' poetry. They all seemed very pleased with their efforts under Michael's tutelage ansd smiled a lot, particularly Denise. The standard was not high
'friendship with people we never would have knew..'
(from the twins' effort, but the spirit was willing and the emotion poisonously insincere)
Peace and harmony seems to have been restored, though.
Michael and Denise ended the show with one of their warm funny times together - the viagra sketch.
Denise seemed to forget all her troubles in the golden warmth of Michael's good humour.
But who is going out tonight?
I'd say Nicola and hopefully Frankie.
Tiome will tell.

Well, Pete, I just ricochet off Marion's brilliantly fulsome summaries. Thanks, Marion. And glad to see you back.
I hope the same two as you go tonight.

Micky Rourke? Will he stand on stilts?
The Botoxed Medusa
It was all-out fun in the house tonight, what with sticking your face into flour and having a riproaring hilarious conversation about circumcision. I felt quite ill during that. Gareth thought it was funny - 'like sleeping with or wothout a blanket.'
Oh, really!
Karissa is till stewing about Denise's behaviour - her complaints induced in Michael a look of utter pained boredom. I;m hoping Denise doesn't show them that she still has the Beast's hand - or they'll think their accusations about her being the big ad wolf are becoming a reality.
Michael is also bored with Denise's constant yapping. He can hear her through the FREAKIN' BAHROOM WALLS!
The big news, of course, is Nicola's eviction. She was not pleased to be out, or pleased with the crowd's reception (which was, I must say, unnecessarily rough). Her foot swung angrily from a crossed knee, her eyes sparked anger - she was practically bouncing up and down on her chair she was so electric with rage. The only thing which prevented the collapse of her face into a Medusa horror was the Botox which clearly isn't moving yet and stopped her inner anger contorting her face.
She blames her eviction on the jealousy of other women - you know, she has enormous assets and badly dyed blonde hair with the dark roots showing. Course everyone is jealous!
Bb retains a sense of humour, however, and after she claimed not to be two faced showed an interesting montage of her comments.
She never batted an eyelid. Or perhaps she tried to but the Botox got in the way.
Well, well - we've called one right, Des - but who's next?
I'd like the Twins to stay because of their sheer effrontery. I'd like Frankie to go - but how likely is that?

And It's Goodbye Grace, Style and Courtesy and Hello, Cocozza
I could not believe it when Romeo's name was called. Granted he was lower profile than some HMs,( not exciting enough to be highlighted in a Channel 5 show?) but some of those others (Frankie) were high profile for no good reason except obnoxiousness. Romeo should at least have made the final in my opnion.
Still, I got half a wish and the twins are still in. Maybe we'll have a little bit more of their iconoclastic opinions before they go.
I'll swear Michael's heart clenched when Denise was told she was safe; and again when HMs called for wine after the eviction. We all know about Denise and wine and the fetching up of grievances when she's had one.
Good series - still no clear winner and still the potential for a little drama in the closing hours.
But I do regret Romeo.

I agree Marion. I still wonder if voting in reality shows for someone rather than against someone creates a more skewed result. Or as they say in law, an 'unsafe' verdict.
I think Alfie will win.
In many ways, Michael perhaps deserves to win, though. Game to the last.
Denise - erstwhile soap star in the only soap I ever watched (Corrie) - is a living example of some of the people they portray in soaps. She is running close to the edge of 'normal' people's once-in-a-lifetime tragedies but a different one for her every week! And each thought that crops up in her mind is the only thought she is able to carry in one go.

Could it be a truer verdict (in reflecting public opinion, that is)? People actually have to pick up the phone for their favourite - if they don't care enough the fave goes. Romeo is a lovely person but perhaps too mild for the popular vote. On the other hand, I have no quarrel with the likes of Nicola and Kirk going out - people just would not vote for them. I cannot understand who would vote for Frankie. But hasn't it always been like that in the house? Surprising!
I think Alfie will win.

My own faves are still the Twins and Michael - a win for either would please me. Gareth is like Romeo in some ways - he is uninvolved but pleasant. Is it enough to win?
The Twins don't pretend to be nice. They are unaffected by that deadly female trait of wanting to please everyone by playing along with the intolerable, such as Kirk and Frankie - think of Georgia suffering Kirk and complaining quietly about it out of his earshot. The Twins made her look a touch pathetic. I don't suppose they will win for that very reason, but I am glad they made the final, just because they are different.
I am beginning to think that Denise's dramas are more calculated than I first thought. That crying in the DR the other night was SO fake. Or perhaps it's her mummying niceness in the daytime which is fake. Or her calculating charm. A monster, of sorts, living out a number of stereotypes all at once. I wonder if even she knows who she really is. You're right - she is like something from a soap opera, her script cobbled together from a number of different scenarios. She may even have a shot at the crown.
Michael is an original. I enjoy his quirkiness, his cool under fire, and his wry bemusement. He's an HM of superior quality. Will his boat be swamped by Denise's emotional floods? I for one hope not.
And from the sublime to the ridiculous - Frankie Dandelion Head. There's not alot to say about him - he's just there flapping his dirty mouth. Even he may have a chance at the crown.
Imagine getting to the penultimate show with there still being no predictable winner. A result of vote to save? I really cannot make up my mind about this voting style. Certainly, a great deal is going to depend on tonight's show. Bring it on!

Jockeys
The jockeying to cross the finishing line first was well underway tonight. HMs tried their best to appeal.
Frankie's attempt at being appealing was a strange one. He opened the show with a pouted lip you could balance a teapot on and a refusal to get out of bed ; then he refused several times to go to the DR as he wanted to finish his fag (by this time you could have balanced the entire teaset on the lip). In the DR, BB produced an appropriate punishment for his rule break - 25 lines on the topic of obedience. He managed four and then got fed up. He stormed and sulked and wanted out of the DR; he threw the chalk on the floor and then drew a massive penis.
In any decent establishment for the education of unusually stroppy brats,he;d have got his 5 day suspension at that point. But alas no, BB is retaining him. Why, I cannot tell. The sleazy little waste of juvenile space remains.
Denise's attempt at appeal was as it always is. Alone she wandered into the garden, lit up, and wept. It wasn't clear why until she went into the DR and explained she felt lonely in a crowd, old, and an outcast among the young ones. She's also on edge because of Michael who is nver the same way twice. I mean, she never knows how he;s going to react. I';ve said before - it;s called projection.
Gareth's game hasn't changed either. He's Mr Nice Guy and hopes he's come across that way. He rather blotted his copy book however, by getting into a conversation with Denise about how they are perceived on the outside. He rambled on (Gareth is better the less he talks) while Denise didn't really listen but waited avidly for her chance at another splurge of her feelings and emotions. She really is tedious. The talk then turned to trashing the Twins. Unlike Gareth and Denise, the Twins are only in the house to win.Their confidence is just wonderful, they are so sweet, BUT...
Not that the Twins think much better of Denise. They had an unpleasant little scene with Michael where they reminded him of Denise's crush on him. Regrettably, she makes him sick to the stomach, he says -the Twins found this hilarious. The fact that he'd rather have sex with Gareth was even more hilarious. It was an uncomfortable conversation. That kind of mockery is VERY unappealing. But they have one fear - that Denise will have a massive fan base and they cannot win because of it.
Michael was back on form with his comment that Denise would be abominable if she didn't get evicted as she would take that as a vindicaion of her behaviour. He's probably right about that.
But the world is a mystery to Michael - he too roamed nto the garden to be alone and think - he was positively Rodinesque as he contemplated the mystery of Romeo's eviction.
The last words wen to the Twins really - they were not evocted because people like their humility, and the fact that they are honest, and fun. One statement is false. I'll grant them the other two!
Michael or the Twins for the win!
