Just saw on Facebook, through Phil Edwards 'Livefor films' that Ron Howard is going to make Stephen King's The Dark Tower, yippee!
He's got a short-list of Daniel Craig, Hugh Jackman and Jon Hamm but with also a mention of Viggo Mortensen (my favourite for this casting) so hopefully Howard will do the story justice.

It has been in the pipeline for over a year now, the plan is 3 films and 2 TV mini series in between. Ambitious.

I think Mortensen is the most appropriate choice of those. Less super hero (his role in Lord of the Rings I thought was very subtle as far as heroics go and I'd like to see that again for Roland).

That said, I still think Jackman was great in The Fountain (though I know many people hated that film) so if he could bring that same vulnerability to the gunslinger, that'd be good.

Yep, I like Viggo for Roland and perhaps Javier Bardem for The Man In Black?

I read the last book when it was released, I still don't know whether I liked the way it ended or not!

For me the ending redeemed the series as I was beginning to think it a little too, well, BIG by the end. But I think Mr King gets criticised for that a lot anyway.

Would King play himself do you think? Can't see him wanting to relive the van experience...
