The British Fantasy Society have posted the longlist for the British Fantasy Award.
Several Interzone and Black Static stories are on the list, which can be seen at http://www.britishfantasysociety.org/in ... 4189356565
BFS and Fantasycon members now vote for their top three choices in each category, and the top-scoring five items in each category will make up the shortlist for this year's awards.
Deadline is 31st May.

I can't even limit my TTA choices to just three - McHugh's 'Vic', Palmer's 'Silence and Roses', Cooper's 'My Secret Children' and Davenport's 'Bryson Feeds Families' were all stand-out excellent for me.

Delighted to see Pete on the shortlist. Also in the non-fiction category, congrats to Dave Langford (but is that for Ansible or Ansible Link, seems to be listed as a bit of both -- not that it matters).
What do people think of the shortlists?

Interesting in the Small Press category, that TTA are the only ones who are primarily magazine publishers. Surprised to see Subterranean there, as they're even larger than PS and Pete Crowther debarred PS as no longer being a small press. And very disappointed not to see Gray Friar Press shortlisted. With books last year by Probert, Finch, Bestwick and Volk, I would have said there's a level of activity and quality product that deserved more recognition than just a long list mention.
Great to see Nina Allan shortlisted for Best Short Story. Carole Johnstone gets picked up by Ellen Datlow for her Year's Best, and Maura McHugh gets picked by Paula Guran for hers, and Sarah Totton wins the Dark Scribe Award. Anyone noticing a pattern here? And do we know if Stephen Jones picked any TTA stories for "Mammoth 21"?
Disappointed in the Novel category not to see either "Audrey's Door" by Sarah Langan or "Slights" by Kaaron Warren in contention. Both brilliant novels.
Oh, and I'm delighted to be on the short list too. Thanks to everyone who voted. For the final ballot I'd suggest tactical voting to keep King and Scalzi out (they're Americans), and I'll form a coalition Award winner with David Langford or Telos, cause we all know how well tactical voting turned out in the general election

Congratulations all round!
I particularly liked the way Stephen T. got everyone's hopes up earlier by saying there were some real surprises on it.

He said, 'There are a few surprises', so could have meant of the omission sort.

Sorry, Jim! I was mainly thinking of the fact that some heroic fantasy had made the shortlist.
Of course I'm also flabbergasted that TQF is on there, and a bit embarrassed. And it would be the one category where there was a tie for fifth place, making it look like I stretched the boundaries to let myself in...

Heavy competition in the novel list but well done House of Murky Depths to be in there with Gollancz, Orbit, Virgin, Hodder. Good luck Sam Stone.

Yes, I was surprised Audrey's Door didn't make the shortlist.
Will have everything crossed for TTA and Case Notes...
