All Borders shops have reportedly started closing-down sales, with most (or all) stock now discounted. I don't yet know how long this will last, or whether or not it applies to the TTA Press titles that they have on their shelves.

I'm planning to go take a look this afternoon. I'll let you know what the status of the TTA products are.

Well, it's very busy there. They have 20% off everything, so there were a lot of bargain hunters.
However, it didn't include the magazines, so Black Static and Interzone are undiscounted (though they only had one copy of BS13, and none of IZ225).

A Borders employee on another messageboard mentioned that they had people from WHSmith in their shop removing magazines from the shelves. Presumably WHS distributes magazines to Borders and is retrieving its stock while it can.

That sounds likely. Most of the magazine racks were very noticeably empty.
Who does the distribution for TTA?

Interzone goes into Borders via Central Books, Black Static via Native Publisher Services. As you know, Central have had major problems getting any money out of Borders so might well've stopped supplying -- they haven't told us that though (haven't heard from Central since the message outlined above, and nothing at all on the matter from Native PS) and we've still been supplying the usual amount of copies.

I've still been seeing Black Static in Borders, Andy, so I don't think they've actually stopped supplying (not until very recently, at least).

There was a big pile of Interzone 225s in the Glasgow Buchanan St branch as recently as last week. I'll try and check sometime this week if I get the chance.

This is a bastard, isn't it. I liked Borders and it's another nail in the coffin.

Maybe at least it'll give Waterstones a better chance of surviving... I know that in Birmingham the arrival of Borders put a lot of pressure on them.

Maybe, but I prefer Borders to Waterstones!

Nah, I always loved waterstones. Every time I go home I always spend at least 6 hours at the one up on sauchiehall street. (Vienna is cool but the book selection is woeful) there's just something about waterstones.

But in the wake of Borders' collapse, maybe they could be persuaded to...

Waterstones (or rather, HMV Media) will probably cherry-pick the best sites. They could do quite well out of Borders' collapse.
