Last Friday (9/Oct) Cult Fiction was the theme and the difference between Sci Fi and SF was almost discussed. They never quite got there.

This week Horror was their topic with the Hammer Horror retrospective in London, Jennifer's Body and the US success of the low budget Paranormal Activity in the spotlight.

Then they discussed stage gore from the early 20th Century Grand Guignol theatre now revived by Carl Grose and Paul Auster's new novel Invisible, "a dark page turner of murder, incest, lies and illusion. "

I'm afraid I fell asleep at the phase of para 2 above so I too will have to turn to the iPlayer to see this.

I tried to look at some of this on my iPhone, but my technotoy only produced a screen telling me that Apple doesn't allow the downloading of this or that onto my brand new timesaver. Having already noticed that it cannot deploy different type fonts, my enthusiasm for this gadget is threatened with diminution. I'll try it later on my MAC.

They seem to think Grand Guignol (set in 1905) was somehow linked to Edgar Allan Poe, who had, inconvieniently for their theory, died 50 years previously.
