Post subject:  TTA at the Manchester Independent Book Market

Once again the Manchester International Festival (2-19 July 2009) will feature the Manchester Independent Book Market – this brings together small and regional publishers and features a variety of niche and specialist publications.

This year will be the second Manchester Book Market; the last market in 2007 was very successful and garnered its share of media coverage. The market will once again be staged in St Ann’s Square, just outside the Royal Exchange Theatre, and one of Manchester’s central squares. It will take place over the final three days (17-19 July) of the 2009 Manchester International Festival.

In addition to the market there will be author readings.

TTA Press will be there, we may even have an author, or two, involved in the readings.
We would also like a volunteer or two to help on our stand. (PM me or roy (at) TTApress (dot) com)

Parking at Boddingtons car park in Gt Ducie St M3 1PU behind the MEN Arena. £3 a day and £1 on Sunday and just under 3/4 mile from the Square. The old brewery chimney is a landmark.
There is closer parking by Victoria Station (0.5 mile) at £4.50 and £3.50 on Sundays and even closer if you pay more, much more.
There are also free buses from Victoria and Piccadilly Stations.

More information on the Book market

Tim Lees and Conrad Williams are due to read between 5 and 5:30 in the St Ann's Square Marquee on Saturday 18th July. They each have a 10 minute slot.

Avoid Friday after 3pm if you want to visit the TTA stand, I have to pack up early that day.

There will be readings and performances at this year's book market and among the Saturday readers will be TTA regulars Nick Royle, Conrad Williams, Tim Lees; with appologies to any whose names I didn't recognise in the list.
TTA will be there with a stall full of Interzones, Black Statics, etc

A communication from Comma Press listing readings and timings at the Manchester Independent Book Markets return this Friday and Saturday, St Ann's Square, Manchester, UK. (10am-5pm)

Quote:
The Book Market brings the best independently produced novels, poetry, short fiction, art books, si-fi, horror and non-fiction right to your doorstep, at a time when high street bookshops are growing increasingly conservative...

Situated in the bustling St Ann’s Square, just off Deansgate, the market’s a great place to browse, grab a coffee, buy a book, and listen to live readings from a selection of talented performance poets and authors.

Aspiring writers can also meet representatives from the North’s finest independent presses – including Comma Press, Carcanet, Dewi Lewis, Tindal Street, Route, Crocus, Flax, Interzone, and many others. So if you’re an aspiring writer, why not make contact with publishers and put your name about?

Manchester Book Market, 8/9 June 2012 St Ann's Square. Interzone will be there, Black Static will be there, Crimewave will be there - how about you? A slight change is that Simon Kurt Unsworth will be reading; Friday 8th at 3pm, Simon Bestwick will be reading; Saturday 9th at 1:37pm. This is a reversal of the earlier timings. Less than a week to go now.
For authors a chance to network with independant publishers in the region, for readers a chance to get some good stuff.
There is a timetable for all the readings and events in the square if you follow the link.
