I expected a 'highbrow' story from Des and I wasn't disappointed and to add to that there were scary clowns too! Nice one Des

Thanks, Bob. Highbrow? It's all about a neigbourhood watch scheme.

I'm carrying on the traditions of years past - I read them on the day (when I get the time) and then forget to comment on the forum until some time afterward. Thank you to Alan and Des for my dose of surreality over the weekend

Nice piece of prose by Daniel this morning on day five of the advent calendar. Very prophetic too in my humble opinion, I can just envisage everything in the poem happening, that is just the way we are. However, I also have a feeling if aliens did visit us we'd be looked upon as just a commodity and wouldn't fare very well, so...
should any alien be reading this now please note:
I for one would like to welcome our alien overlords... 'nanu nanu, or Gort! Klaatu barada nikto!' or any other alien phrase that will not get me eaten...

I'm just glad I understood it, after the weekend's stories...
Q. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
A. To get to the other side.

Just catching up, which is to say printing to read later (wouldn't do any of them justice to read between lessons) but I did treat myself to the poem this morning - loved it.

I think I'll wait until we get to the halfway point, and then comment backwards and forwards, just to confuse everybody. I might have done that last year, now that I think about it.
Ten places still to be filled.
And only one person so far has sent me two links, so if anybody fancies a second bite of the cherry for Christmas Day then send me stuff via whitenoise@ttapress.com

Loved V.H. Leslie's chilling 'In the Bleak Midwinter' - never going to trust a snowman again (although I've always known the snow was out to get me).

Des, I thought your story quite sad and haunting. Read it twice.
Loved Daniel's poem. Bloody brilliant.
