Given that I actually like the music from Babylon 5, perhaps I should listen to Tangerine Dream too.

Listened to 'Postcards From A Young Man' by the Manics this morning, their best album in years.

Playing to death a prog rock sampler that I got in Classic Rock's "Prog" magazine. Never bought the mag before and most of the tracks on the freebie sound like Yes (there's even a Jon Anderson track where he sounds like he's doing a "Wonderous Stories"/classical mash-up), or Focus, and a few sound like Dragonforce, but the stand-out track is "Night of the Scarecrow" by Earthling Society. Oh, and there's a advert for a single malt called "Smokehead" that looks interesting.

On the back of the prog rock sample I bought the Earthling Society album "Stations of the Ghost"."Night of the Scarecrow" is still the stand-out track, but the second track is very Pink Floydish.

Currently listening to the new Stranglers CD, "Giants". After a couple of plays it's proving to be a grower and I'm sure there's something for everyone here, not only for hardened punks like me :)

Now... I'm a huge fan of the Stranglers in the Hugh Cornwell era... is it worth me checking out? I suppose really I'd need to hear some samples of the songs. Yet, somehow, I just can't imagine the band without HC... :?

Bit tricky to say, because you're coming straight from the HC-era and will have missed six more albums to get to this one. They had five post-HC albums with another singer, Paul Roberts, of which only the first - "In The Night" - is something I play often. However since Paul left they released the cracking "Suite VI" with JJ again sharing lead vocal duties. "Giants" isn't as good as that - the opening instrumental is dire - but it's well worth a spin (samples on Amazon don't give a great indication, but the songs are really growing on second listen). And they never disappoint if you can see them live.

True! Saw them live at the Rainbow Theatre in 1980. A highlight of my life! Had to borrow a black leather jacket to go, and came out at thye end half deaf. I'll never forget it... :D

Bought the latest "Nightwish" album "Imaginaerum" only because they are playing Download this year and I'll end up seeing them. Very concepty, I can imagine them playing the whole thing as their entire set. Also bought the latest "Epica" album - more symphonic rock.
