I got IZ and BS today - I make that almost exactly one month for the mail service to shift a couple of A4 envelopes 100 miles. Reckon I could walk to Ely in half that time!

Well if the first couple of stories are anything to go by, this is going to be an excellent Crimewave...

Agreed - I've only read the first two (I'm trying to finish other anthologies first but I couldn't help it) but it was a damn fine start.

Hoing's was beautiful, a very fine story indeed and an excellent portrayal of small town life. In fact, it was more about the town and its reactions than it was the crime itself, I thought - a wonderful read.

Allan's, too, was enjoyable, with a finely detailed protagonist and a suitable parralel between the voyeuristic nature of photography and the one of reading. It had a very satisfying ending, finishing exactly as it should.

I don't think I'll get into the habit of real time reviews, but that's my tuppence worth. I can't be very specific about what I liked for risk of spoilers, but liked them both I did.

(And look, a free Yoda impression thrown in at the end)

Crimewave 11 is a Fictionwise eBook now. Maybe I shouldn't announce this so soon as there is a discounted price for the first week. If you feel flush why not wait and buy it next week. F'wise do provide Kindle versions.

I know the U.K. mail has been backed up, but has anyone in the U.S. received copies of Crimewave 11 yet? I'm still awaiting mine.

BTW, Des, Mike, and Ray, thanks for the kind words about my story(or stories) in Crimewave.

Presumably Ed Gorman has, unless Andy sent him an electronic version.

Other than that I can't recall seeing anyone in the US mention it, though they are talking about Black Static which got sent out at the same time.

I didn't think to ask Ed Gorman when I spoke to him on the phone. I guess I assumed Andy had sent him an advance copy, knowing that Gorman publishes a best-of-the-year anthology. Anyway, damn. I'm getting anxious to see the issue!

Crimewave arrived at my door today! :D

What an excellent-looking book. Great job, Andy! I can't wait to read the rest of the stories.

As another point of reference, I received my cc in the US in late December. Didn't think to post the news here...

Nearly finished this splendid anthology. Just turned to the first page of Dave Hoing's Plainview Part Two - now there's a character name that freaked me out!!

The name can be deduced from clues in the first part of the story, so it's not new to part two. However, its origin is a little simpler: it came from a friend named Mike and his son Alexander. I hope you enjoy the second part of the story, despite (or because of) the name! :D
