Just thought you might like to know about some of the give aways we'll have with Black Static issue 7, out early October. Comments are mine, Tony might have a completely different view!

The Tattooist
Written by Jonathan Black Sheep King and filmed on location in Auckland, New Zealand and Singapore, American tattoo artist Jake Sawyer (Jason Behr) wanders the world and explores ethnic themes in his tattoo designs. At a tattoo expo in Singapore, he gets his first glimpse at the exotic world of traditional Samoan tattoo (tatau), and, in a thoughtless act, unwittingly unleashes a powerful angry spirit. In his harrowing journey into Pacific mysticism, Jake must find a way to save his new love, Sina (Mia Blake) and recover his own soul. Recommended.

Reservoir Dogs 2 Disc Collectors Edition
Tarantino's debut in petrol can packaging, inlays, extras, etc.

The Wizard of Gore
Remake of Herschell Gordon Lewis's film from 1970. Weird.

The Dead Girl
Award winning, dark, grim film in five parts weaving together five haunting tales, chronicling the effects the brutal death of one woman has on the lives of five unrelated women. Recommended.

Eraserhead and The Short Films of David Lynch
Cleaned, restored, remastered. Eraserhead. Lynch. Say no more. Highly recommended.

Solstice
A group of high school friends on their summer vacation to a lake house, deep in the swamps of Louisiana. Soon, things take a tragic turn when Megan realises that her dead twin sister is trying to contact her from beyond the grave... From the co-director of Blair Witch Project, this is a remake of the 2003 Danish film Midsommer. I haven't seen that. If I had, no doubt I'd like Solstice less. Some bad reviews for this but some good ones too. I think it's very decent -- very well made for its budget, subtle, with a genuine surprise or two.

The Flock
Andrew Lau's (Infernal Affairs) first English language film stars Richard Gere as an administrator of the Department of Public Safety affected badly by his job and his obsessive tracking of paroled sex offenders. Very fine acting, amazingly shot, very effective. Incredibly didn't get a cinema release in the US or UK. Recommended.

Timber Falls
Haven't seen it.

Shutter
The US remake which I couldn't bring myself to watch.

List might grow longer yet! Please feel free to comment on any of these films.

Wow...this Black Static subscription really pays for itself! Great news about Eraserhead, and I forgot I even entered the comp for The Flock, so a nice surprise there too. Cheers!
