"The Union between Man and Vampire is over."

Image

We have five copies of this DVD to give away to Interactioneers (and five more in December's issue of Black Static).

Imagine a world where vampires and humans live peacefully alongside each other and where the thirsty bloodsuckers are the next step in human evolution. 1960s Nuovo Zelandia is just such a place. For 300 years, vampires and humankind have lived in harmony. Until now. This delicate balance suddenly looks set to be destroyed as one of the vampires has started to do what no other vampire has done before – to hunt down and prey upon human beings. If the news gets out, the fragile bond that exists between the two races will be shattered forever.

Dougray Scott (Mission Impossible 2, Enigma, Ripley’s Game) stars as Silus, who is sent out to catch the renegade vampire, Edgar. Joining forces with a human police captain played by Saffron Burrows (Troy, Enigma), Silus must track Edgar down quickly, as he is becoming increasingly dangerous and insane. But as they soon discover, Edgar harbours dark secrets.

Perfect Creature is the second feature by writer/director Glenn Standring whose debut became one of New Zealand's most successful film exports.

The R2 DVD is available on 22nd October. If you haven't seen the film you can google reviews easily enough. I think that the Nuovo Zelandia stuff is wonderfully realised, and it looks beautiful, so while it may not be the most exciting film around I reckon it's worthy of your collection. It has the feel (and ending) of a very high quality pilot episode, and I'd want to see more.

To win a copy just answer this simple question: what is the title of writer/director Glenn Standring's horror film of the year 2000?

Email your answer to:
perfectcreature[at]ttapress[dot]demon[dot]co[dot]uk

Winners will be drawn from a hat and notified on Monday 22nd October.

Just recieved BS2 this morning to find reference to this competition and the fact that winners will be announced today. Which presumably means it's too late to enter... :(

From above so it may not be too late.

In the magazine it says 'Winners will be drawn from a hat, notified and prizes mailed on December 15.'

My Black Static didn't arrive until the 15th and as I was out all day entry to the competition wasn't possible. Many other UK subscribers will be in the same boat, and non-UK subscribers stand even less chance of making the cut.

A four day window of opportunity is okay for online competitions, but if you're going to run competitions in the magazine itself then the Closing Dates need to be more realistic, to give everybody a chance to enter.

I made a mistake, sorry. Look further up the Black Static topic for 'announcement'.
