New story acceptance from Carole Johnstone has just appeared in the Black Static section of the website.

She shoots! She scores!

And another one is showing in the Interzone section.

She does an encore!

Thanks, Pete! :D

Now, when you next update the index, can I ask you to bear a few things in mind: C comes before R (and first names are, after all, first). And I'm a girl. And Ray's probably sick to death of being top dog. In fact, he is. He told me .*winsome smile*

Yeah, that's all fine and well Carole, but did you not read the bit up above where I said I had a tenner on Ray?

Ah, but making me first will make you look completely impartial, thus avoiding any cries of race fixing. Just thinking of you and your tenner, Pete. And Ray, of course. *concerned smile*

That Carole Johnstone, always making stuff up. (And then getting it published, dammit.)

Okay, the contents of #35 have now been announced, and it's official, Carole and Ray are tying for top place:-

Ray Cluley - 9
Carole Johnstone - 9
James Cooper - 8
Daniel Kaysen - 8
Joel Lane - 7
Tim Casson - 6
Steve Rasnic Tem - 6
Nina Allan - 5
Tim Lees - 5
Gary McMahon - 5
V. H. Leslie - 4
Alison J. Littlewood - 4

We also have Steve Rasnic Tem moving, quietly and confidently, up the field.

:-|

We're being rather spoiled for fiction in the newest issue, aren't we - seven stories! Brillaint.

You don't have to try and fill all seven spots in an issue yourself Ray!

Details of the new issue (#36) have been posted, and so it's time to update the leader board:-

Ray Cluley - 10
Carole Johnstone - 9
James Cooper - 8
Daniel Kaysen - 8
Joel Lane - 7
Tim Casson - 6
Steve Rasnic Tem - 6
Nina Allan - 5
Tim Lees - 5
V. H. Leslie - 5
Gary McMahon - 5

Movement at the top from Ray, who is now showing Carole a clean pair of heels, and at the bottom from Victoria, while poor Ali now drops out of contention, as I'm afraid a mere four credits no longer cuts the mustard.

 Jobby.
(I'll leave it up to Ray to decide whether I'm referring to him or the fact that I now have to get at least two more stories accepted before I've even the hope of going top!)

:D

Just lately my stories have refused to be horror (vey frustrating when one of them was supposed to be, yet when it came to the crunch it refused), so I won't be sending anything for a while. Plus I'm supposed to be tackling those bigger projects I keep talking about but getting distracted from.

By the way, your Interzone story looks gorgeous. And what a hook for a first paragraph... looking forward to reading it.

Aw, thank you, Ray. Now I have to take back both the Jobby and the

Black Static hasn't arrived yet, but looking forward to reading your--and everyone else's--stories too!

Don't trust him Carole, with all that 'my stories have refused to be horror' talk. He's lulling you into a false sense of security, and next thing you know we'll be reading about umpteen new bits and bobs from Ray Cluley on the Story Acceptances page.
