Thanks to David McWilliam we have been invited to have a Black Static night at the huge Waterstones in Liverpool One. We want 3 authors to give short (20 minute ish) readings and their books will be on display and on sale. I'll be selling TTA magazines separately.
We need authors who have appeared in BS and it would also be useful if they have a novel or collection out as the Waterstones branch will stock their latest and any others in print. They also offered to sell any out of print the authors bring along on the night. They will do that for RRP with 40% to the author. As no one will provide any expenses for attending that may help make it worthwhile.
So if the above fits and you live within reasonable striking distance of Liverpool (or fancy a trip) let me know if you want to come along? Proposed dates are one of Friday November 19 or 26. Time 6 - 8 pm. We may have others later if this goes well. (roy1gray (at) yahoo (dot) co (dot) uk)
There are often readings likely to interest to Black Static fans at the store.

A little off topic, but might this lead to Black Static (and possibly Interzone) being stocked in Waterstones?
I've long thought it odd that such premier UK genre magazines aren't sold in the leading UK bookseller.

No chance as Waterstones don't sell magazines now. They hope to sell our reader authors books while I try to sell magazines.

Just in case you haven't noticed this Black Static Showcase is going ahead, under the name of Twisted Tales 2, this Friday when Black Static will be on sale in a Waterstones bookshop for a few hours.
Waterstone's Liverpool One from 18:00 to 21:00 on Friday 26th November 2010.
Authors Graham Joyce, Simon Kurt Unsworth and Paul Finch, who have all contributed stories to Black Static or its precursor The Third Alternative, will read from their work.
Tickets are £2 and are redeemable against any horror book purchased on the night. You can book and pay by phone 0151 709 9820.
Waterstone's Liverpool One is the largest bookstore in Merseyside and features the biggest single floor of books in Europe, with over 3km of shelves on the first floor. The Science Fiction/Fantasy/Horror section is the most successful in the region both in terms of sales and growth. The store runs many events featuring local, national and global best-selling authors.
Just think; to look at every book on the first floor you can walk 3 km, over 1 3/4 miles, that's about 230 calories used looking at books. Why visit a gym?
Although this is only a one evening event, Waterstones won’t be stocking Black Static - or Interzone - anytime soon, we hope it will be a successful for both parties and will lead to more of such in the future. So please come along and spread the word. This will be the second of Waterstone's Liverpool One horror readings and the Twisted Tales website shows more details including images from the 1st event.
