I've enjoyed your entry about typos. Maybe there's a possible explanation about the high number of typos you find and the fact that most reviewers (including myself) usually don't mention the problem.
I often get "Advance UNCORRECTED Proofs" as review copies (and I'm sure the same applies to you). Being still "uncorrected" I take it for granted that the text will include typos....

I always assume errors will be corrected in ARCs, and that they hinder reviewers' ability to do their job properly in this regard is one of the reasons I don't like them, but unless I'm being sent less ARCs than other reviewers then in general terms I think there is a problem.
One devious publisher once sent me what was clearly a 'final' copy, but with an 'uncorrected proof' label stuck on it
