There was a creepy crawly thing on the cover of a Black Static a while ago

The literati are now doing vampires:-

I believe Stephen Bacon was rating this highly on another thread, and I posted news of a comp to win a copy somewhere on the White Noise bit of the site. (Thanks to Roy for the link.)

Oddly enough, I've just finished reading (and have reviewed on my blog *cough*shamelessplug*cough*) Jasper Kent's Thirteen Years Later, which was a vampire novel that moved away from the moping, whining vampire trope. I think he launched the book at WHC earlier this year, so some of you might already be familiar with it.

Just to add my own two penn'orth - I generally find vampires boring as sin or, worse, pasty-faced poncing goths who could do with a slap. The less of them in Black Static, the better, for this reader at least! 8)

To repeat my earlier point, clowns are the wave of the future.

And Lawrence, if you thought that vampires were pasty-faced, just wait till you get a look at the Grotesque Grimaldi

Matthew, I have a review copy of "Thirteen Years Later", though it's looking increasingly less likely that it will be reviewed.

Whether or not you review it, I'd give it a read. Kent might not be the most technically accomplished writer, but his books are entertaining and the kind to keep you reading until it's finished.

Plus he lives in Brighton, so he clearly has good taste :P

As I predicted, the clown bandwagon has begun to roll:-

Terry Dowling is an amazing writer, great to see him finally releasing a novel.
