After Christmas I'll see it, all being well.
If he starts on the Silmarillion I won't be keen. Maybe someone will make a version of 'Bored of the Rings' but they shouldn't follow the book at all.

I liked the first two, much more than I expected from the reviews, and we'll be watching this sometime over the holidays. I tend to enjoy the new bits most, with Legolas and Tauriel, and Gandalf and Radagast.

Have seen the first two but not got round to catching this one, I better go before it disappears - worth seeing, anyone?

It got five stars from all four Theakers. It's pretty much in line with the other two, so if you liked those (or not) you'll probably like this one (or not). We loved the battle scenes, and the way it had the time to really savour the different encounters. There's clearly room in the world for a more magical, fairytale, one-film version of the book, but I enjoyed this series too. A Tauriel spin-off film would be extremely popular with the younger Theakers - they thought she was absolutely fantastic.
