Saw it this morning. Pretty enjoyable witha great turns by Benedict Cumberbunch and Peter Weller. Plenty of surprises and well paced. Still too much lens flare but the way JJ Abrams keeps a tight set gives me hope that every last detail of Episode VII won't be leaked. Well worth a watch on the big screen but avoid the 3D as it is rubbish.

We watched it today and the whole family enjoyed it, though I do wish they'd put all that effort into a film with a "real" Star Trek crew - however good it is, on a certain level it doesn't count - and I'd rather watch Star Trek every week instead of once every few years. Odd to have Peter Weller playing another Star Trek prequel role - I was distracted by trying to remember who he was in Star Trek: Enterprise and whether there was a connection. But all very exciting and grand. Often felt like I was watching a Mass Effect movie, but I liked that. Nice that Kirk is still listening to the Beastie Boys.

I saw this Thursday and, being careful with the potential for spoilers, I must say the change of objective in the final chase was rendered somewhat unnecessary by the fact of 71 alternatives 'back at the ranch' as one might say. Otherwise it was OK - though as I can't remember much of the first series, TV or movie, I'm sure I missed some links and references.
