The film version of "A Princess of Mars", now called simply "John Carter" has its website up, although there is not much information. Nice background music, though.

The trailer is out today, attached to the Harry Potter film.

Now, as a fan of the stories since I was a boy, I am excited to see it. However, I am nervous as to how Disney have told the tale. The director seems a good choice and he has stuck close to the book.

I know someone who has worked on the film. They stated, without giving too much away, that he gives it a 7 out of 10.

(They are still in post-production, and reshooting some action sequences.)

Thirty years since I read Burroughs, but wasn't Deja Thoris green?

No. Dejah was of the red race of men. So she had a reddish-copper hue to her skin.

And shame on Disney for not organising a better marketing campaign.

Granted, the film was nothing special ( I give it a 7 out of 10) but it was decent at least, and might have done better at the box office had Disney got off their asses and organised a kicking campaign and a better series of trailers.

You invest that much money in a product, you should be pushing it hard (even if you don't believe in it.)

Addition: Moreover, Disney should've insisted Stanton have a crew of people with live-action experience. Disney let him use his Pixar crew. Not a bad idea, but he needed more people on his team who had the proper experience with this type of film.

A book on the film's failure, currently available to download for free:-

And the ERB novels also seem to be free to download, if anyone wants to check them out.
