But I want to be the Doctor, not a companion

I think this is the show I saw at Manchester Arena and it is very much for children, and pretty young children at that. Walking with the Dinosaurs at the same venue was much better.

Are you thinking of Doctor Who Live? I think this is more of an immersive, walk-through sort of thing.

I'm taking my four-year-old in a couple of weeks. It's either going to be the best thing that ever happened to him or it's going to leave him with permanent emotional scarring. I'll report back.

Maybe this is different, it 'starred' Nigel Planer and the Doc appeared from filmed material projected into the show when I saw it. This looks similar and 4 years old was about right for the show I saw.

It's not too bad. The "experience" part of it is all New Who, mostly for kids (age 7-12 I'd say, although my 4 year old was spellbound) and is over quite quickly, but there are some nice little touches - like a "crack in time" that opens out into a doorway you can walk through. A bit disappointing that the daleks were on tracks behind barriers - I was expecting to get closer.

Best part for me was the exhibition afterwards. Good mix of new and classic props and costumes. I could have spent an hour or so there if someone hadn't got bored.
