It's a long way off, but seems likely to be a big fantasy event movie if THOR is released next year...

Here's my blog post with a few random thoughts about casting and specific comics' genre adaptation:

Forsooth!

I used to love the Thor comic when I was younger, though it's been years since I looked at a copy - such adventures as the battle with Hercules, the Destroyer, Uric the Troll, the Absorbing Man, the High Evolutionary, Galactus etc were all pretty much gobsmacking, particularly when Jack Kirby was at the artistic helm.

Not so sure about the inclusion of characters like Volstagg and Hogun (where's Farandal, was it?). From memory they were pretty much excluded from the main comic, their adventures chronicled in the "Tales of Asgard" feature.

Much as I love Thor in comicbook form, I have major doubts as to whether the character is going to work in a motion picture. I just can't visualise it not looking silly on the big screen.

When I try to visualise Thor, the image my mind comes up with is Mickey Rourke in "The Wrestler" with his long hair flying.

That's probably not good.

Has anyone read Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski's THOR comeback-from-Ragnarok comicbook series?

Visually, I think film version should combine epic scope of LOTR with style of 300.

There was a teaser lead in for Thor after the credits of Iron Man 2. I don't know much about it myself, but I'll certainly have to look into it.

First picture from Thor online at:

Only a year to go before this film is released!

Time to revive this thread, I think...
http://thor.marvel.com/

Ken's film is just about what I expected it to be (lots of flashy visual effects & big noise), so can't honestly say I feel disappointed by any of it, really.
8)

What do you think?
