I've just written a Case Notes Blog entry about Ligotti (who is also featured in Black Static #10), so am making a thread here to link that back to when it appears.

But if anyone wants to kick off a discussion about him before that, please feel free to do so.

It's good that Ligotti is now in the mass market with books recently published by Virgin.
Over last Christmas, I wrote a detailed review of one of them:

I look forward to seeing the TTA output on this author whom I've admired since 1987.

I'll link to that review when I post the next Ligotti themed blog entry, Des.

If you or anybody else wants to write a piece on Ligotti for the blog - favourite story or his influence on your own work etc - then please get in touch with me via whitenoise@ttapress.com

Brilliant stuff, Pete. Thanks. Matt Cardin commented and set up a link for your review on TLO, I notice:
http://www.ligotti.net/showthread.php?t=2814

Also, thanks for linking to my real-time review of 'Teatro Grottesco' .

PS: For any interested, I've just remembered: I did a review of Ligotti's 'Conspiracy Against The Human Race' in 2007 on TLO here:
http://www.ligotti.net/showthread.php?t=1159
Probably, in hindsight, the first such real-time review I ever did!
Proud to say that TL himself replied to it on that thread.

Cheers Des, and thanks for the link to Matt's post on TLO.

I'll link to your "Conspiracy" review the next time that I blog about Ligotti.

Just dropping by to say thanks for the really amusing and engaging "Notes on the Writing of..." parody, as well as the overall Ligotti focus for April, which I love. Much appreciated, Pete.

Thanks for the kind words Matt. And anyone with an interest in Ligotti should definitely check out the interview Matt did with him. I linked to this at the end of my blog entry, but for those who want to cut out the middle man:-

http://theteemingbrain.wordpress.com/in ... s-ligotti/

And thanks for the link Des. I worry that I found it scarily easy to portray Ligotti as a misogynist, simply by leaving out a few facts and taking others out of context (a career as spin doctor awaits). I hope I made it abudantly clear that this was meant to be parody, and not my considered opinion of his work.

For Tunnel Visionary I had in mind the type of review with Christian fundamentalist leanings that Richard sometimes posts in relation to films, but when push came to shove I couldn't face reading through the novella again and jotting down every time there was sex, violence, swearing, taking the Lord's name in vain etc. It seems a curiously soulless method of reviewing anything.

Perhaps there is a market opportunity here, for a book of comic reviews of Ligotti

Meanwhile, Black Static #10 with the reviews and Q&A should be arriving on subscribers' doormats any day now, and I'll be blogging about Ligotti again either Sunday or Monday.

Thank you again for the link to my Ligotti interview, Pete. For obvious reasons owing to Tom's huge (and growing) and passionate audience, it consistently ranks among the top three or four most popular posts at my blog every month.

Thanks, too, for your further explanation of the Tunnel Visionary reviewer. I heartily agree that the mono-focused puritanical approach is, shall we say, lacking. And have you noticed that you can find it all over the Web, especially in the area of movie reviews?
