Another list to mull over or simply ignore, this time voted for by 60,000 people:- http://www.npr.org/2011/08/11/139085843 ... tasy-books Lots of series. The actual number of books is probably somewhere between two and three hundred individual titles. |

Nice to see Neil Gaiman on there three times but surprised Joe Abercrombie isn't mentioned and absolutely miffed that I'm not there either... hmmff! |

I would have liked to have seen Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell higher than that - I loved that book. Did anyone else find themselves ticking a mental list of those they've read and those they should have but still haven't found the time to yet? |

Hmm, top 10s or 20s can sometimes make a bit of sense, but listings for a top 100 are just silly and arbitrary... I mean, Banks' CULTURE series, and KSR's MARS trilogy stuck down in the bottom quarter, with Vernor Vinge's A FIRE UPON THE DEEP rated below a Star Wars spin-off that I've never heard of! ![]() ![]() Oh, and let's not even start wondering how the hell anything by Orson Scott Card rates above the likes of Clarke, Asimov, and Ray Bradbury's best. ![]() |

I'll say. You might as well cut it down to: The Great Books of All Time 1. Those with pictures. 2. Those without pictures. |

Bit odd how all the Culture books are all listed as one series, and the Discworld books aren't... |
