Hi All,

Just to let all of you in the East Midlands know the Derby's literature festival, the Festival of Words runs from October 10th-27th. There's events for novels, poetry, stroytelling, theatre and much much more!

There are a few events with a strong SFF interest including a Classic Dr Who Night featuring Paul Magrs on October 11th plus a Writers Networking Evening featuring Mark Newton of Solaris Publishing on October 14th.

If you'd like any further info, feel free to email alex.davis@derby.gov.uk, call 01332 715434 or look up www.derby.gov.uk/festivalofwords07

Thanks a lot, and hopefully will see some of you there!

Alex

TTA Press will be there with Interzone and Black Static so if there are any TTA books/magazines you would like to purchase while in Derby let me know here and soon and I'll try to ensure we have them with us.

As well as a dealers' area Alt.Fiction 2008 features some of the UK’s leading talent in science-fiction, fantasy and horror writing in another superb day of readings, workshops and panels

This year's line up includes authors such as Brian Lumley, Michael Marshall Smith, Mike Carey, Charlie Stross, Graham Joyce, Justina Robson, Tony Ballantyne and many more. At least two of those started their careers in IZ.

Alt.Fiction 2008 takes place at the Darwin Suite, Assembly Rooms, Derby on the 26th April and tickets for the day cost £20/£16 concessions. Doors open at 11am for a 12pm start, with a 9pm close.

For further details contact Alex Davis on 01332 715434 or at alex (dot) davis (at) derby (dot) gov (dot) uk or visit the Alt.Fiction blog

Thanks Roy!

I didn't know about the October event. Not far from me - so perhaps I can attend. I've asked Alex what else is happening, as my book, Bull Running for Girls is launched before then, at BFSCon. I'll be looking to help Steve Upham, the publisher, promote it.

Allyson thank Alex. That was his post. Good luck with the launch. Not sure if I'll be at BFS con yet.

Yeah - I know now - just been chatting to Alex. The next Festival of Words is 2009 apparently. That'll teach me to pay attention. :)

I'm at fault as well as I assumed this was an Alt Fiction thread without reading Alex's first post properly.

Is it greener to start a new thread or reuse an old one?
