Sort of like books, except with 880% of the pictures and 5% of the words.

Free comics at your local habberdashery this Saturday!
Oh, I'm sorry -- apparently it's happening at your local comic shop. It's an all-ages, take-the-kids-type-event.

Most popular here in North America, but happens all over the world. For example, 5 shops show up in the results for London:

COMICBIZ

FORBIDDEN PLANET - LONDON

GOSH

MEGA CITY COMICS

ORBITAL COMICS

You can also find a list of some of the standard comics on the official site:

Cheers!

Looks interesting - according to the site my local comic store, Abstract Sprocket, in Norwich is taking part. I might wander down tomorrow and check it out.

Comixology is worth a look today - just picked up a couple of hundred free comics there.

Yes, it'll keep me going a while! I haven't gone through them all to check, but it looks like Image Comics offered pretty much every #1 of every comic they've published. And then there were twenty or so Comixology Select (indie) titles free too.
