Here's the press release from the organisers of this year's BristolCon:

BRISTOL 10/13/2010 - Doctor Who writer Paul Cornell will be the guest of honour at a local science fiction convention on 6th November.

Paul, who also writes Superman for DC Comics, will join a host of other well-known science fiction writers and artists for BristolCon, the south-west's science fiction and fantasy convention, now in its second year.

The convention will be held on November 6th 2010, from 10am-10pm at the Ramada Bristol City Hotel on Redcliffe Way, within easy walking distance of Temple Meads Station. Tickets are available to the public and can be purchased at a special advance rate of £20 from the convention website, or bought on the door for £25.

Also sharing the Guest of Honour spot will be Bath-based fantasy author Joe Abercrombie, author of the First Law Trilogy.

Other authors appearing on discussion panels throughout the day will include Juliet McKenna, Alastair Reynolds, John Meany, Stephanie Burgis, Kim Lakin-Smith, Gareth L. Powell and Colin Harvey, who will be launching his latest anthology at the event.

The convention also features an art exhibition including works by 2000AD illustrator Simon Gurr, BSFA award-winning artist Andy Bigwood and Bristol-based artist Kirk Stacey. Evening entertainment will be provided by Wiltshire-based singer-songwriter, Talis Kimberley.

Books, comics and merchandise will be available in the dealer room, and authors will be on hand for signings and autographs. There will also be a pub quiz in the evening.

For further information, check the website at for regular updates, committee contact details and ticket purchasing. Information can also be found at, or from the Tourist Information Shop on the Harbourside.

Colin Harvey, who will be launching his latest anthology at the event.

Yep, sure will. And it contains a goodly share of Interzone and Black Static contributors, past and present:

Eugene Byrne
Roz Clarke
Christina Lake
Gareth L Powell
Sarah Singleton
Liz Williams

And as Gareth said, among the guests will be Interzone & Black Static's Kim Lakin-Smith and Stephanie Burgis, plus Alastair Reynolds and John Meaney.

See you there?
