Lovecraft Unbound reading at the Montauk Club

The Montauk Club: Lovecraft Unbound, January 15, 2009

An evening celebrating H. P. Lovecraft, with readings from the Ellen Datlow edited Lovecraft Unbound, at 8 PM, January 15, 2010, in the historic 120 year-old Ballroom at the Montauk Club, 25 Eighth Avenue, Park Slope, Brooklyn (adjacent to Grand Army Plaza).
Anthology editor Ellen Datlow will introduce each of the four contributors from Lovecraft Unbound who will be reading from their stories, which are inspired by Lovecraft's fiction. A pioneer of weird literature in the early 1900s, Lovecraft is best known for his development of the Cthulhu Mythos, a mixture of mythology and science-fiction tropes that explore other dimensions and the place of man in a hostile universe.

Don't link from a business or academic terminal as this could be misunderstood.

It concerns SF readings in NYC and was brought to my attention by NYC resident Andrew Porter. No one was searching the web for related images, honest.

Why not join Black Static/TTA contributors Conrad Williams & Nicholas Royle, along with Ramsey Campbell at Holloween for readings in Waterstones Liverpool One.

Later in November on the 26th, Black Static will actually be on sale in Waterstone’s Liverpool One between 6 and 8 pm This will be part of a showcase for Black Static and, to attract an audience, TTA published authors Graham Joyce, Simon Kurt Unsworth and Paul Finch will provide readings.

If we get a good audience we hope this will bring more such events but they are 'one offs' as Waterstones will not be stocking the magazines.

The Black Static or the Halloween reading Ray? You are welcome at both, of course, though its a long way from Portsmouth.

The Black Static one. It's a chance to show my support and treat myself at the same time - those are good readings. Besides, Halloween is always busy!

Turns out I won't be going after all - best I could get was half a day of work whcih still isn't enough time to get up to Liverpool from Portsmouth. Shame, as I was looking forward to those readings and those ridiculously long bookshelves.

I'm definately up for future events, especially closer to the south but also if there's another Liverpool one (the missus likes books too, and has always wanted to see the Pre-Raphaelite art up there as well).

Hope it's a hit, I'm sure everyone will enjoy themselves.

(Damn work means I can't go to the BFS Christmas do either - and that's only in London. Bloody parents' evening.) (Now there's a title...)

We did well with 44 in the audience, including Ramsey Campbell, and a good night for all I thought. There are photos and more here.
Thanks to everyone who made this a successful evening. Look out for more 28 January 2011

Hi Roy,

According to my email from Alex, I think you have the wrong times. I'm on at 11! And I think my writers group colleague Gaie Sebold is at 10.30 but I may be mistaken about that.
