whokilledculture is right though, that there were an awful lot of guesses and not enough questions. Maybe we should go with his earlier suggestion, that only questions proper count towards the 20, and if you make a guess then you are eliminated.

Right, anyone else want to be 'it'?

Are you serious? Ingrid Pitt? The same Ingrid Pitt of 70's fame and Doctor Who's Warriors of the Deep? Wow, was I way off... :(

Dave: Is it Kurt Vonnegut (ala Kilgore Trout)?

Used to deliver his prescriptions as a lad.

Lawrence, not unless Dave is cheating or knows something the rest of us don't - the person is supposed to be alive.

No, it's not Kurt Vonnegut, Lawrence.

Eleven.

(And yes, he's alive, Pete.)

I've never seen a picture of him wearing glasses, no, Bob.

Twelve.

(I mean, at his age he might - maybe for reading or something - and I couldn't say for sure if he wears contacts or anything like that...)

Dave, does his writing primarily take the form of books?

Thirteen.

Is the initial of his writing surname a vowel?

Yes, Pete (good question!).

Fourteen.

Did you see Springsteen at Glastonbury, by the way? Top show. He was mad for it - brilliant performance. BBC3 (I think) - there's another 'best of' compilation from there tonight as well, I think.

From memory, he and The E Street Band did (not in order):

Badlands, Outlaw Pete, Working on a Dream, Thunder Road, Born to Run, Johnny 99, Out in the Streets, The River, Glory Days, Dancing in the Dark. Probably a few more I've forgotten.

Piers Anthony?

I caught some of the Bruce set on BBC4 last night, but think I missed the first bit (he was half way through "Badlands" when I turned on), but I taped it on BBC2 Saturday night, so have that to look forward to.

I think they only showed edited highlights, as somewhere online last night I found a 26 track playlist, and they said he was on for nearly three hours.

I thought he was great on the rock numbers, and nobody 'plays' an audience like Springsteen, but on the quieter stuff like "The River" and "Thunder Road" you couldn't help noticing that his voice has had some real wear and tear over the years.

Another thought, oh hasn't Patti changed, but then I realised it was Soozy Tyrell standing in. Didn't see Garry Tallent though, did you?

Piers Anthony is spot on. Give that man a cigar!

The coverage I saw last night was about an hour and a quarter, roughly, so if he played three hours I would love to see the rest of it. 'Badlands' was the first song of the coverage that I saw, and no, now you mention it, I don't think Garry Tallent was there. But that fella named Charles, who played keyboards on the Seeger Sessions, was in for Danny Federici, which I thought was a nice touch.

You can see which ones they missed out.

Yeah - it was a pretty awesome set, but Pete's right: his voice seemed pretty ravaged! I saw him live in Cardiff a year ago and he was absolutely phenomenal - vocals and everything - so I just think it's a passing thing rather than a full-time, age and wear & tear-related impairment :-) The crowd didn't seem to notice it though, and, with all that energy and passion, even I had stopped noticing it on TV once a couple of songs had passed.
