The New Scientist is running a competition to to find 'something better' for Neil Armstrong to have said when he stepped off Apollo 11's lunar module and onto the lunar surface - something even more memorable, or perhaps something funnier?

The rare and fabulous prize for the winner: a scrap of genuine moon rock.

So get to improving on this "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." within 75 characters (including spaces).
Ideal for Twitter really. So maybe here if you feel like sharing.

By the way, I heard that it was supposed to have been 'One small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind'. Is this true, or one of those stories that just seems like it should be?

Well, my dad said it was true. If two people think it's true, does that make it so?

I love the idea of Twittering from the moon. 'On Moon. Kinda dull-not much atmosphere. LOL.'

I tried this:

'Once Humankind looked up at the night sky and wished for the Moon. Now we are here we look up at the Earth and realise that our reach need not exceed our grasp.'

I hope it makes sense!

"Such a triumph of the American spirit - of liberty, possibility and hope - requires only one clear expression: fuck you, Krushchev."
