Should have gone for Black Static - it's much better (having lit blue touchpaper, steps back to a safe distance).

Interactioneers - I like the sound of that. I even bought a Fictionwise sub to Interzone so that I don't feel too much like an interloper here...

I'm probably going to do the same myself with Black Static, now that I have a Kindle.

I ended mine on 300 purposely... That was always the plan. Same way I'm going to end it on Shocklines with 3000 (the denomination of 300 can be found within; it's kind of an alternate version to the movie National Treasure - No, just kidding).

Some friends of mine have bets going as to "who" will reach 3000 posts on their respective boards first. One is affiliated with a graffiti art board, another stock car racing, then finally Star Wars. And me, Shocklines and horror. If the person gets banned, of course, they're out of the pool.

The winner gets the pool of... You guessed it... $300.00 8)

It's quite a bit more expensive - $24 instead of $17. I did buy a copy of the most recent issue, though.

Hey, you want quality you have to pay more. No champagne at chardonnay prices

They both got their strengths and it all depends what you're looking for in a magazine. Interzone's got the better non-fiction.

I always used to be an Interzone man, but I have to say Black Static does take the cake for sheer consistency the last year or so. The joint subscription is the best value, though. IZ does sometimes still come up with stunningly original pieces--not every issue, but a couple times a year... BS does what Whispers used to do: quality, atmosphere, the shudder...

Thank you everyone who made Whispers what it was. I learned so much from you all...

Will definitely second all these comments. A great site, and a most eloquent obituary from Pete.

The final W.0.W magazine dropped through my letterbox today (along with a complimenatry booklet). It will make for a nice memento

I've set up a thread for anyone who wants to give feedback on the final issue:-

Would you all be interested in holding a wake for Whispers of Wickedness at the next TFF-con (provisionally forecast for July 11th in London)? I thought I'd check here in case anyone can think of any major events that this would clash with (I'll publicize in the "Events" listing where it belongs once we're firm on that date).

All Interactioneers as welcome as Whisperers, of course!

I'll probably be around on that date, depending on times etc. :D

Aargh, I'm already committed to another writers' meet-up on that date :(

A meet sounds fun actually. I've spent far too long just publishing and not writting. I think my muse is returning as well.

Once I've got Devil in the clock sorted and in print for Alexis Child, I'm probably going to take a break from publishing for a few months and get back into the writting. I have a few twisted ideas that need my attention!

I probably won't go as I have my image to think of. Hollywood are sniffing round (or is it Hollyoaks?) and so I can only mix with beautiful people. Ali isn't going, Djibril now looks more like a zombie than Johnny Depp and as for Vern... Well, that avatar.
