Michael Crichton has passed away:-

Never read any of his books, though I've seen the films of "Jurassic Park" and "The Andromeda Strain".

Oh wow, bloody hell. Didn't see that one coming. I went through a period of reading his books in my late teens. The Andromeda Strain was well worth the read, as was Jurassic Park to be honest. Such a shame.

I read 'The Andromeda Strain' and 'The Terminal Man' maybe 25 years ago. I remember enjoying them, but don't remember much else about them.

I always thought 'Jurassic Park' was basically the same story as 'Westworld', except with dinosaurs instead of robots. 'Westworld' was also written by Crichton - I suppose one can't knock him for plagiarising himself!

I still have an original late 60's/early 70's Dell First Printing of THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN.

The Great Train Robbery wasn't that bad either.

He's an interesting one ragrding likes and dislikes, I've found. I have to say I enjoyed Jurassic, though not the follow up - I think I read somewhere he was reluctant to write that, though, but was lured by the substantial ca-ching. He certainly entertained a huge mass of people, that's for sure.

We won't talk about Timeline the movie...
