Hi guys,

I'm sorry if I went against protocol by posting in another thread well before I got around to introducing myself.

I'm really Jo Thomas and I have a web-site, which I've linked in my sig. I enjoy sf, otherwise I wouldn't be here, and I'm dabbling with being a writer in the sense that I've only really started and don't have anything finished enough to publish. Although I did send a badly formatted ms to Jetse (sorry sorry sorry!).

Anyway, I shall probably just lurk most of the time - I tend to be "shy" on message boards as I find other people know better than I do. It's a shame I can't control my mouth in real life in the same way!

Hi Jo,
I see you are a genealogist, I used to to spend hours in Manchester trying to find my ancestors. I researched back to Enoch Shakeshaft 1740, before I turned to writing short stories. Good luck with the writing!

Hi Allyson,

Thank you for the good wishes.

And I tend to be lucky with my genealogy and run into other people who can do all the donkey work. Me? Lazy? Never happen... Actually, there's something that soothes my geeky mind with hunting down weird, missing bits of data and then organising it all nicely in my own database. I'm a bit weird that way.

Hello.

I'm Stuart Young. I write short stories (even though people keep asking me not to). The stories have appeared in various books and magazines including Darkness Rising, Midnight Street and The Mammoth Book of Future Cops. I also have three short story collections, Spare Parts, Shards of Dreams and The Mask Behind the Face.

Somehow I managed to win a British Fantasy Award for Best Novella (fortunately no one demanded a recount).

Ah, the resurrected thread! :D

Hello all,

My name is Jen and I work at a teeny (but lovely) publishers, mainly in a receptiony capacity, but I spend my spare time consuming as many fantasy and horror books as humanly possible. I also attempt to write stories too, and I've had a couple published in the Hub and Pantechnicon- to my own surprise, I was one of the winners in the Campaign for Real Fear too. Very excited to get the next issue of Black Static!

And that's it really. Oh, and I also co-host a podcast called The Box Room, largely about geeky things and silliness.

I look forward to hanging around here and thoroughly de-lurking myself. :D

Oh, fantastic - well done on the 'Campaign' win. I'll watch out for it in the magazine.

Hi everyone,

I'm Darren, i'm from county Donegal in Ireland. Unfortunately i have had nothing published yet, so none of you will of heard of me. I feel like the most inexperienced person on the forum..lol

I write mainly horror but branch out into sci-fi and fantasy on occasions. I've built up a decent amount of short stories over the last two years i've been writing and now i'm trying my luck with a novel length piece. Hopefully all will work out.. :D

Nice to meet you all, and i hope you will have the pleasure of reading my work in the future.

Darren.
