That's alright Roy, nice to have the opportunity to vent! Feels good occasionally best not to make a habit of it though, I've noticed diminishing returns with that .....

I prefer to keep colour instead of turning these into links (which have such dull colour!) so just copy and paste addresses to visit my art etc.

I mostly had a good time at Waterstones, but there were a couple of occasions when ridiculous, Waterstones-damaging decisions were taken by the senior management.

One does rather expect it. It's always annoying, though...

Hello Citizens of the TTA block. The Judge is here. And I Am The Law. Perps.
So, I am a froggy (what a shame) with a 3/4 Scottish blood running in my veins. I have discovered the TTA publications Black Static and Interzone on the web, when I was looking for SF/Horror prose magazines. I immediately sign for a one year subscription for the two mags. For the renewals, I will see if I can sign for a two years each or for the Lifetime option.
I love SF, Fantasy, Heroic Fantasy, Horror, Dark stories in all their medias: prose mag, comic books and graphic novels. I was 12 when I was offered my first SF book at school for my excellent results. It was a story of Space Rangers with their training on the Moon. One of the training exercises I remember is a full vertical drop of a module into a large excavation.
And from then, I have always bough SF books. Plus the below variants (almost the Conan stories!!). After a long travel in the intellectual desert (jobs were days and nights - I really hate IT domains now!!), and into a personal mental minefield (I suffer from a nervous breakdown - thanks to these jobs...), I am starting anew to try to read again. And it is really hard for me. Before, I was reading a book per night. Now, it's 1 to 3 pages per night. And that, for a reader, it's very difficult to admit...
I have subscribed to the best prose mags (UK and USA, only one French title - it costs very, very... OUCH!!!!) to help me. I hope than a day, I will be able anew to read without difficulties. Hey!! I have all The Wheel of Time, the Shannara saga, the Black Company Chronicles and all the Dragonlance books to read!!!!
One comment I want to say is: will it be possible to see in a near future, a new mag with only Fantasy and Heroic-Fantasy in it??? Hum??? PleaAAAAAAase!!!!
Now that I have enough talked about me, Citizens, you must report yourselves to your main block entry. Non declared public meeting to The Hall of Justice is illegal. Move. Creeps.

Hi, I'm Cameron Johnston, hailing from sunny Glasgow (It is today, I swear I'm not making this up!) and a member of the Glasgow Science Fiction Writers' Circle. I work for the NHS, usually write fantasy and horror (with some asides to science fiction), and I also study historical european martial arts, mostly the highland broadsword. As the recent winner of Black Static's 'You Choose' competition I figured that it was high time I registered on the forum. Feel free to heap abuse on me for my choices but I think they should make for some interesting reviews. I have had one short story published in a small-press anthology so far, but my writing has improved a lot over the last two years, and I am currently half-way through writing a novel. All signed up for World Fantasy Convention 2013 which should be a blast (feel free to hunt me down and say hello). I have read Interzone and Black Static for years and always been impressed with the quality of both magazine and fiction. Definately my favourite SF publication. -Cameron

Hi Cameron, nice to meet you on here! I thought you made some great choices in the 'you choose' comp - looking forward to seeing the reviews.
And congrats on the anthology publication!

Hi Cameron. Daft question time: Will you be at Booze and Baubles on the 22nd? Just wondering how much the Glasgow writers' circle overlaps with my geeky Glasgow friends... Edit: on re-reading your post, we'll also have to compare acquaintences in HEMA some time

Hi Jo, Well, not sure what Booze and Baubles is, so no, but I suspect Munchkenstein is involved As to HEMA, it seems to be getting increasingly popular up here. Anyhoo, have already followed you on Twitter Hi Ali, Nice to e-meet you too! Glad you liked my choices, and I'm sure that the reviews will prove interesting. I could have picked 10 'hot' vampire/angel dark fantasy novels I guess...*shakes head at Jim Steel* Cameron

Anyhoo, have already followed you on Twitter I believe a small, hairy person will be there, yes HEMA seems to be sprining up all over the place. Mainly longsword from what I've seen - longswords are the new black? - which is a little disconcerting to someone who prefers rapier and smallsword. Or what I like to think of as stabbing my opponent, not bludgeoning them to death...

Great to see you here as well, Cameron.
I need to extract a digit and get along to the Circle more often. Not enough hours in the day, grumble, grumble etc.

Do you mean as a punter or as an embarrassing drunk with a microphone?
Haven't any new fiction kicking around so I'd have to write something first.
