PCs have been perfectly valid as home music studio solutions since about 1997 or so, provided the owner knows what rubbish to strip out of the OS and what hardware to get. And therein lies the issue, I think: Macs "just work" out of the box, but as such don't offer the same flexibility that a well set-up PC system can - but the PC system requires more techno savvy and tweaking as a consequence, which is set off by the bonus of being able to upgrade and expand more easily.

Horses for courses, innit? ;)

All Veldt's stuff is recorded and mixed on PCs - albeit high-spec ones. The main problem I've come across on my own PC is the latency delay of the sound card when using vst (software) instruments with a MIDI master keyboard (aka cheap soundcard syndrome!).

But my brother's in the film music business, and he and just about everyone he deals with uses Macs. (But then a lot of them are filthy rich!).
