Bit of a long shot this, but here goes: while rummaging through my letters files the other day, I found an acceptance letter for a story from Auslander Magazine. I know the magazine folded around 1986/87, but I was unsure as to whether Volume 2 – and my story - was published. If anyone has any information on this, I’d really appreciate it if they shared. If it’s any help, it was edited by a bloke called Pete (I never got a family name) from Gloucester.
Thanks, people.

Not heard of it. Was it an SF/F/H fiction magazine? It doesn't appear on the ISFDB list or on Visco. Maybe someone in the Bristol SF group would know. I can ask.

It was a sf/spec fiction mag, I think. There's very, very little about it online, just a mention on this site: http://www.rimbaud.org.uk/0001a.ukmag.htm and reference to it in a collection by Chris Bell, who had a story published in the magazine. We're going back nearly twenty years, so I don't really expect to find anything out!

I've got a couple of issues in a box somewhere. I was never in the mag, but I bought a copy or two and probably sent them a submission at some point. It was a funny-sized thing if I remember correctly - with (I think) a clear plastic cover and spiral bound. It would have been the early issues I would have had. When I get the chance I'll see if I can find them

Thanks, both - much appreciated. I'm sure I would've received a copy had it still been going when my story was in it, but thought I'd better be sure.

That's intruiging: as my letter's dated 1986 it must be Issue 2 of Volume 1, I suppose. It's as close as I've ever come to seeing the mag!

I knew it had a spiral spine! Will have a look this weekend.

I had an article titled "A Job for the Censor" in Auslander #3, back in 1996. Editor was Peter Jamieson Sinclair, and I have three addresses for him, the latest two of which are in Gloucester. Each issue was themed - Sin, Phobias, Censorship - and #3 was the last one.
I don't know anything about an earlier (1985) incarnation of the magazine though.

Well, I took a look at all my old indie press mags this weekend and either I have a box missing or my dim recollection that I recently chucked some stuff that I had no direct involvement with is accurate. I no longer have it, that's for sure. I do, though, have every issue of The Third Alternative from #1 onwards that I'm saving for my retirement

Ah well, thanks for looking anyway.
As for TTA - an Ebay lot for the future, methinks!

I did just take a quick look on the BBR Online Catalogue as they still have stock of various indie press publications but not Auslander. You're in the following mags listed if you have any other gaps in your publication history: http://www.bbr-online.co.uk/catalogue/s ... lie+travis

Nice one, thanks for that. I'm seriously suspecting that the issue of Auslander was never published and I'm reasonably sure that I've got everything else.
