It's almost that time again. For the last few even years TTA Press has sponsored (ie put its name to) a sweepstake for the big international football event of that year. Last time it came down (conveniently, but *slightly* embarrassingly) to an all-Glasgow final. Is there any interest in doing it again this year? Andy? Anyone? I'm happy to reprise my role as administrator, if everyone's agreeable.

Okay, good to know. If it's all okay with Andy, I'll let people sign up as and when they feel like it.
Bear in mind though, there are only 16 teams so, I guess once we have 16 volunteers, we're full up. (I've been asked to reserve the previous winner, CHris Murdoch, a spot on the list.)
We'll outline the rules and do the draw and all that in the week leading up to the first match on June 8th, but the short version is that each contestant sends me an entry fee by paypal, to create a pot for the winners. A blind draw is made, allocating a competing team to each contestant, and the "owners" of the teams that come 1st, 2nd and 3rd get a proportional split of the pot. Simple.
But really, it's all about football and the banter.

Count me in please! Intend to enjoy it no matter what happens on the pitch. It was really hard to work up much enthusiasm for the last two tournaments, we stunk them up so bad it was embarrassing, we couldn't even get angry any more -- it would've been far, far better for our future if we hadn't qualified. Still, at least Don Fabio is gone so I can feel some hope seeping back in...

Blimey, I'm beginning to think I've kicked this off a bit early!
Great stuff, Andy. As far as England go this year - you know, I have a suspicion that because you're going into it in a bit of a mess (in terms of preparation, manager appointment at least), you might actually do something this year. Hodgson if nothing else is a calm head and I think he'll do well for you.
I also think this will be the year that coaches catch up with Spain tactically, so it's all going to be interesting.
Okay, so far we have the following registrations of interest:
Ian Hunter, Ross Warren, Des Lewis, Chris Murdoch, Roy Gray, Darren Gallagher, Bob Lock, Andy Cox.
I'll only take up a slot this year if we're short.

You should take a slot Neil! (Assuming you want to.) Andy H will presumably want in. And Lynda Rucker perhaps, if she's still around (she is still registered).

Admin's prerogative, Andy. I'll be happy to sit back if someone else wants my slot.
I'll nudge both Andy and Lynda. I know they both enjoy it.
