Are Touch Screens Taking Over?
http://www.time.com/time/magazine/artic ... 88,00.html

Interesting to read how cutting-edge tech is catching up with what we've seen for years in sci-fi movies & TV.

I'd pay a thousand dollars for the last one alone. I'd pay even more for a phone who's signal doesn't cut out randomly.

I-fonely it was really that funny...

Noticed how each trendy new gadget hitting the market is becoming more about the 'interface' than proper hi-tech functionality?

I can't think that's all bad, you know. I have a mobile with camera, WAP all that stuff, and I haven't topped it up in two years. I use it as an alarm. Most people are the same, I think. I'd quite like to be able to set my alarm without going through two-dozen different menus.

The mobile phone industry doesn't regard them as useful tools, but rather as consumer accessories and, increasingly, content delivery services. The two best ways to keep rubes forking out cash.

I, too, use mine mostly as an alarm, and as a messaging service, and on rarer occasions as a telephone and a camera (though of course the latter is shit).
