What are you recommending this year or what would you like BFS members like me to recommend?

PS: Please don't forget Nemonymous Six!

I've just seen the long list of recommendations here:
http://www.britishfantasysociety.org/news/?p=111

Congratulations to everyone.

I see 'Nemonymous' has not been nominated in Small Press. Did the Press have to bring out a publication in 2006 to be eligible for this list? As you know, Nemonymous Press has been in existence and working hard all of 2006 to bring out a book (available in the next few days).

These lists look inordinately long for the jury (the jury being made up of each person in the whole BFS membership) to be able to read all the contenders and make sensible decisions ...because all jury-members in any award system should take their jobs seriously, shouldn't they? Anyway, I 've said that before...

Must admit it does seem to be the longest recommendation list I've seen for a while! Anyone who wants to read the Elastic Press books that have been recommended please drop me a line. I'll discount those on the list for BFS members until the voting is over :)

My editor has ordered me to tell everyone that my short story nomination is now online, if any BFS folk want to read it before voting. (Scratches back of neck and stares down at feet in embarrassment.)

You have it right. If Nemonymous (the publication) wasn't published in 2006 then it isn't eligible this year. As you say, the new Nemonymous will be eligible for next year's awards, assuming nothing untoward happens between now and the publication date! (And it could even be eligible in the Anthology category - does it have an ISBN?)

Nemonymous (the publisher) is eligible while it is in existence, but if it didn't produce anything in a given year I'm not surprised that it wasn't recommended. I understand it was hard at work throughout 2006, but that work isn't seen by the public.

That makes sense, Gary, i.e. the bit about not being eligible if the Press doesn't have a publication in 2006, even though the award is for a Press rather than a particular publication by that Press. Have all the Presses on the voting list had such a 2006 publication, however?

As to 2007, the Nemonymous 7 Paperback book has now been published. 17 stories anthology with an ISBN number (as it is a series).
